My (Aus) Wii just started glowing blue.

    Sorry for asking such a n00b question. But I'm a n00b to the Wii scene. I know you understand.

    Have D2C chip. PAL Aus Wii. It started glowing. I assume this means an update is ready. Safe to proceed?

    Not sure exactly. I downloaded an update about a week ago. The only other update I've done is from Mario Kart PAL. So the update (if that's what a glowing tray means) was sent out today.

    A glowing tray can mean a new update, a message from a friend on your friend list, or a message about an upcoming update or so on.

    To check your Wii firmware version, go to Wii Menu - in the left hand bottom corner, press on the "Wii" button, go to Wii Settings, and in the top right corner
