Today my 2ds broke from a fall, and I took it back to target. They were nice enough to refund me for free. So my old device was on 10.1 and ironhax installed and all that good stuff. I also kept my sd card from my old device. After getting the device and setting it up I chose to skip an update. I checked the firmware and it was 6.0.0-12U. I always wanted to install a cfw and wondered if anyone could redirect me to any forum on how I could install it, and was also curious if I could update to 9.2. Thanks :D

And after finish installing rxTools, download 9.2 firmware (Google [MEGA] [CIA/BIN] MSET 4.X & 6.X backups, Browser backups, Update packs (All Regions)) -> extract firmware cia into updates folder on root of SD -> download sysupdater 0.4.1 https://github.com/profi200/sysUpdater/releases -> extract sysupdater cia on root of sd -> boot into rxTools devmode -> FBI (H&S app) -> install sysupdater cia -> still in Devmode -> Sysupdater -> Update firmware-> profit.

Read the linked thread. You don't need anything else to install rxTools onto your 2DS.

You don't need any flashcart or cubic ninja to set up custom firmware.

Oh wow! That's great for you :grog:

First, back up your NAND, install rxTools, emunand, and a cia manager.

Once you get it all up and running you have to manually update to 9.2 to use themehax and be able to coldboot rxTools.

But remember to do one thing at the time, don't try to look everything at once or you'll end up confusing yourself more than needed.

Read the first reply. In your case, that tutorial got you covered for all you need b̶a̶r̶ ̶u̶p̶d̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶c̶e̶s̶s̶ ̶w̶h̶i̶c̶h̶ ̶I̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶v̶i̶d̶e̶d̶.̶

Edit: My bad. Just read that tutorial again. Now it even has update process tutorial (Last time, long time ago it didn't have). So I didn't contribute anything. Nevermind.

Okay I've gotten down near the end of step 1 and it says boot into the gw? I have no idea what that means. I'm assusming it means Gateway but I don't know how.

Okay by booting into the gw I'm guessing they mean to go back to the gateway link in the browser.

Download gateways 3.4.1 launcher.dat put it on the root of your sd card open the brower and go to go.gateway-3ds.com this will load the gateway menu make a Nand backup save it on your PC and format for Emunandm

    — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post! —

Formatting for Emunand will erase everything so backup your sd contents if you care

Alright final question. I'm now updating to 9.2 using this thread's instructions, and was wondering if I could get my games from my old 2ds sd card to this one. It has shovel knight, mario kart, Pokemon AS, and Ironfall(hax). Possible? I read about the emunand tool? Will this work? Thanks :yay: Shit..... I just remembered I deleted all those games before my 2ds broke... because I could redownload them from eshop.... any hope?

I don't think you can, in order to transfer saves between systems you have to decrypt them with the system itself first, you are at a loss here... Except for retail games.

You can download those games again however you'll have to call Nintendo and ask them to unlink your old broken system and activate the new one.

Wait can they still do it though? I'm on 9.0.0.20 or whatever, and now when I hold left button I boot into rxtools.

Also when I try to install cia's I don't have enough space to have the cia on my sd card, and install the cia. I saw that FBI cia installer has an option to send cia's over your pc to your 3ds. When I do this however I get failed to install. I used sockfile and it connected perfectly. Plus I believe this thread does not allow any talk of pirating games (even though I'm just trying to get my games that I orginally bought of the estore :/).

Okay well do you know if I could get my games back from nintendo? Or should I just get cia's for the games?

That tutorial very old before CFW and Gateway Sysnand mode was a thing you should probably avoid it.

    — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post! —

You can simply install them using any CIA installer to your Sysnand the games in the list are correct though.

Okay then. One question for you. Does FBI allow you to install cia game roms, and if not do any other programs allow you to install cia's from your pc directly to your 3ds over ftp?

Give Nintendo a call and tell them you broke your old console and would like to transfer your NNID to the new one. Depending on who you talk to they might transfer it for you. Then you would just have to log in on the new console after they transfer your NNID on the server side and you'd be able to redownload your purchases.
