    Hey guys,

    I've got a switch board which has multiple shorted caps near P13USP, M92T36 and ALC5639 (see pictures). I already removed the NAND, the P13USP, the M92T36 and the BQ24193 but the issue still occurs. The only IC I didn't remove is the ALC5639. Do you have any idea which caps/IC's cause this issue? Or should I recheck something? thanks!

    I found the problem, it was caused by the CPU (SoC) --> https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintend...-chip-still-shorted-help.561483/#post-9000525

    Therefore I removed the CPU and I looked for the wire/line which connects from the CPU pads to one of the shorted caps (red). Next I searched for a GND pad (blue) on the CPU pads. Afterwars I checked these two pads on the CPU itself because I just wanted to know if it's really the CPU and yes there is a short on the CPU, therefore not repairable. Hope it helps others.

    I have the exact same shorted caps. +1 near the BQ24193 IC. Those persist even after removing both the PI3USB and M92T36 (haven't touched the BQ24193 nor the ALC5639 but it seems futile at this point anyway).
    So it's obviously a dead CPU on mine too. :(

    Already bought a replacement switch, hope that this one isn't going to kill itself too, not gonna leave it in the dock all the time anymore, although I only play in docked mode.

    But what bugs me is that all my saves are on the dead switch.
    Is there any way to recover them from the dead switch? Didn't use nintendo online, so no cloud saves.
    Can I transplant the eMMC module from the the dead switch onto a working one and get my saves back? Or anything else I can do? :/

    yes, sounds like it's the CPU.. :-(

    I already tried a board swap (CPU, NAND and WIFI IC - https://gbatemp.net/threads/board-swap-but-which-components.565803/), but it didn't worked because the CPU, in my opinion, was faulty. I think it should be possible because "just" the mentioned three componets are tied together and if you move all of them to a different board it should work. The only thing which is important is, that if you're componentes are from a non patched board, you should only move it to a non patched board. If you're successfull, please let us know in the other thread, thanks!

    check you have continuity through the filters highlighted in yellow. The one circled is the one that fails the most if the wrong charger has been used. filters.jpg

    if the solution from @Mightyjebus doesn't work, check if the solder joints of these caps are REALLY touching the caps. I once had an issue that a solder joint was broken and this caused the same issue as you described it.

    Hi, I check the filters and all have continuity. It is so strange, why do the switch work in handheld mode?
    When the SOC is defective, why boot the switch?

    It means that the component failed and thus it shorted. AKA it wont ever send power through again

    You could have a completely different issue have you changed PI3USB if so what resistance to ground are you getting on the 3v3 rail?

    I desolder the P13USB to see if the short is gone, after that I resolder it.
    Where is the 3v3 line?

    The one thats powering the PI3USB and the M92T36 pin 6, is this where you have low resistance to ground

    M92T36 = 29 Ohm
    P13USB = 28 Ohm

    Did you remove the PI3USB because it wont dock or because you thought the 3v3 rail is shorted
