Who here thinks what I have done is completely and utterly idiotic?

Hello again guys! For those of you who are quite a bit more smarterer than me with these kinds of things, I have a couple of questions about redNAND, System Config Tool, and as the title of this post suggests, the such. The first question I have is about redNAND. Why does my Wii U's power light flash yellow when I shut down from redNAND but not sysNAND? At first, I was scared of this flashing yellow light and I thought it was appearing because I had just bricked my Wii U which knowing my luck, I thought I probably had. The thing is though, I didn't have any problems with redNAND until I went to shutdown my Wii U. I was even able to install System Config Tool (I didn't mess around with anything in there because I just wasn't brave enough to) before I went to shut down the Wii U. When I first saw the yellow light, I thought it was just a application update and then it started flashing. I solved this problem by holding down the power button for 4 seconds (Which Nintendo suggests you NEVER do even though it is required sometimes) and then I was able to power my Wii U back on and was greeted with the typical, "You shouldn't hold down the power button for 4 seconds!" message. On to my second question which is about System Config Tool which seems to have absolutely NO documentation on the internet as far as Google is concerned. My question however is, why does it appear on sysNAND too? I know I probably shouldn't try to load into it while in sysNAND and I just kind of hid it away in the back of the system menu so no one can accidentally load into it while not in redNAND. Those are really my only two questions and thank you for reading through this f*cking bore of a post but, I really need some assistance with this and I probably over looked fine details when I got myself into this. I literally just got the 64 GB SD Card today to start tinkering with redNAND (Which doesn't sound like the safest thing to do...) and I've stayed up until about 12:30 waiting for the NAND to dump to the SD card and do all of it's fancy reformatting crap. Anyways, thanks for reading again and any answer to this topic is appreciated. As always, have a good one and happy hacking!

    - Ben

1: Can't help with yellow flashing light - but a lot of users have reported it (seems harmless)
2: Sysconfig tool appears on sysnand because your nands are linked (you didn't format sysnand, again this is fine)
3: Try to add breaks in your writing so that you aren't posting scary walls of text.

    1. Thank you! I will keep that in mind
    2. Is it required to format the sysNAND to unlink them or is there another way? (I'd be willing to do anything except for hardmods)
    3. I'm sorry. I didn't really know how to format it and I just went freestyle typing because I was nervous as to what had happened with the lights and the System Config Tool appearing on my sysNAND

You don't have to unlink your nands. If you really want to you can format your sysnand, but you will lose all the data installed on sysnand and any external hdds you have will need to be reformated as well.

The only benefit of unlinking nands is that sysconfig tool will cease to appear on sysnand, but that's not really a big issue - so don't worry about it.

    Not under a rock.
It'll make the risks of bricking sysNAND less.

I had the blinking light after shutting down from rednand, I seem to have fixed it by going into power option within system settings and turning off standby mode and anything like that.

I dont seem to get the flashing light anymore.

The problem is because when you switch off rednand it goes into standby mode then switching the wiiu back on causes the wiiu to get confused because rednand is in standby but sysnand was not technically switched off its not something to worry about and we have know about it since day one of rednand. As for sysconfigtool you must have it installed on USB instead of rednand that is why it's showing in both rednand and sysnand i would move it to Rednand to avoid any problems.

What will make the risks of bricking sysNAND less?

Thanks! I will have to try that. I will let you know how that goes.
I did install it to redNAND. It's the only thing I haven't installed to USB so far.

Are you sure because only things installed on Rednand should show in rednand unless its installed to the USB in rednand then it will still show in sysnand. And AboodXD means to unlink the redNAND from sysnand to avoid a brick.

I will double check quickly. I'm still pretty sure I ONLY installed it to redNAND but I might have installed it to USB. Is there any safe way to delete System Config Tool or do I just use Data Manager?

You can delete it fine using data manager.

Yep, you guys seemed to have missed the step to disable all standby timers in REDNAND after setting up REDNAND. Usually the first thing the instructions have you do.

Unlinking doesn't really prevent a brick. It's just a misconception. If you install something to USB while in REDNAND, yes it will show up on your SYSNAND, but even if someday you accidentally try to run it from SYSNAND, thinking you are in REDNAND, it won't run because the ticket information isn't in the SYSNAND. So there is no risk of brick.
