    Hi,

here's a preview version of my latest remake of an old c64 alltime classic.

The original game was created by Ron Rosen in the early 80's. Mr.Robot C64

I've played it hours over hours and i think it's one of the greatest C64 jump'n runs ever! (Except Miner 2049er/Bounty Bob strikes back [IMG] )

You can get it here. DOWNLOAD!

There's still a lot to do but i hope you like it anyway!!

The game use the NITRO filesystem. You need a compatible flashcard or you have to use hbmenu.

    Some keys you should know:

    Game:

    A: jump
    B: teleport
    START: pause

    Editor:

    A + stylus: delete objects
    L/R: move map
    START: load map from rom.

I missed out on this one as a kid (Jumpman and Lode Runner ruled my C64 days), but this would have ranked right alongside them if I had access to it at the time. Love the level editor, as I welcome any chance to play game designer, and am looking forward to the implementation of sound.

the scanline effect on the title screen, that’s intentional? just making sure its not a bug.

i was on level 2, i pressed B, and the screen jumped to something else and then the game froze.

is there sound yet? i'm just curious if its akaio (on my acekard 2.1) or if there is just no sound yet.

you should add a way to pause the game because the enemies are always tracking and attacking. if for some reason you have to stop play you might die by the time you return to the game.

the animation, controls, and collisions are very nice.

touch screen options for the main menu would be a welcomed edition.

i'm really happy you included a level editor. i personally feel that they are the way to go to have continued longevity of your homebrew project. however, the editor is currently frustratingly difficult to use. the objects in the editor are very close to each other and at times its hard to find the binding box so you can actually select and use that item. perhaps tweaking the binding box for each item or adding d-pad alternatives to selection objects. there appears to be no way to delete blocks, something which is required by any editor. i was trying to click a new block over an old block but that does not appear to work.

the game is a run and jump but i think adding the ability to jump and then run would bring the game up-to-date for a modern audience. i grew up on the atari 2600 so i see the controls as just something else to master if you want to beat the game. i just feel that most gamers today expect a level of play control and they might not appreciate this game without that update. i saw a similar problem happen with JNKPlat. probably one of the better homebrew platformers i've played, jay was plagued by users who could not grasp his Y and A jump scheme.

here is an example level of how jump and then run would benefit the game: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ift0yg

keep up the good work, i look forward to future updates!

Argh! Yes, you are right. The control is absolutely "old-school" like the rest of the game. When you change the control into a "mario like" one, you kill the charm of this old game.

    Thanx for your positive comments/suggestions!

It's time for a small update!

    -bug fixed in teleporter function.
-added pause function (press START during game.)

The picture is not finished yet, so Mr.Robot is partially black/white... ...sorry!

You can download the updated version on top of this page.

    Very great maRk!
i waited a long time for this one, i played it very often on the C64!
with the c64 it was possible te select a level to play.
and are there more levels downloadable for the editor?
