I was writing and about to post this when GBAtemp went down, but fortunately I copy/pasted it and saved it for now.

So, much like I do Games of the Month, I figured I'd dabble in my other hobby, movies, and do movies of the month! Every month I'll list up notable movies of the month and give my say on them.

Rules and such:

I only do theatrical, United States releases. No foreign films or straight-to-DVD unless it's exceptional.
Movie hype is rated out of five stars.
If you want a movie that was not listed, you are free to do a write-up. Just follow the format.

Here's my formatting:

Wreck-It Ralph
MV5BNzMxNTExOTkyMF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMzEyNDc0OA@@._V1._SY317_.jpg
Release Date: November 2nd
Director: Rich Moore
Starring: John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Sarah Silverman
4 out of 5 Stars

What many are claiming to be the "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" of video games, it seems like a rather solid animated feature. The plot is that Wreck-It Ralph, a video game villain, no longer wants to be the bad guy and leaves his game in search of one he can finally be the hero in. You've got a solid cast of John C. Reilly (Walk Hard, Stepbrothers) playing Ralph, Jack McBrayer (Kenneth from 30 Rock) playing Fix-It Felix (the hero of Ralph's video game), Jane Lynch (playing herself in everything) as Jane Lynch, and Sarah Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program, Tom Paris's love interest in a two part episode of Star Trek: Voyager) playing some little girl from a video game world. But I've been waiting for this movie for quite a while and they've done a lot to get tons of video games and references in there, from Qbert to Street Fighter. Check it out.

The Man with the Iron Fists
MV5BMTg5ODI3ODkzOV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMTQxNjUwOA@@._V1._SY317_.jpg
Release Date: November 2nd
Director: RZA
Starring: RZA, Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Cung Le
1 out of 5 Stars

As much as I enjoy martial arts flicks, this wire-fu flick doesn't seem too promising. RZA, apparently some rapper from the Wu Tang Clan, is making his directorial debut, which doesn't sound promising honestly. It has a rather decent cast, Cung Le (whose been in a few martial arts flicks like Bodyguards and Assassins and the Tekken live action movie) is a decent martial artist, Lucy Liu cemented herself in the genre with Kill Bill, although Russell Crowe seems a bit of an odd choice and RZA, who knows. Still, there's an array of Japanese/Hong Kong action flicks that can offer the same style but most likely better.

Skyfall
MV5BMjM1MzMzOTA3MV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwOTE3NzA1OA@@._V1._SY317_.jpg
Release Date: November 9th
Director: Sam Mendes
Starring: Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Helen McCrory
5 out of 5 Stars

It's no secret that I'm a massive James Bond fanatic, and with the recent hype around Skyfall, this is seriously gearing up to be the movie of the year. Early reviews have branded it "The greatest James Bond movie ever" and with a new director and direction away from the Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace era, it's really gearing up to be an amazing movie. If you're a James Bond fan or you just like good action movies, this is the movie to see.

Lincoln
MV5BMTQzNzczMDUyNV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNjM2ODEzOA@@._V1._SY317_CR0,0,214,317_.jpg
Release Date: November 9th
Director: Steven Spielberg
Starring: Daniel Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones
2.5 out of 5 Stars

What's gearing up to look like the Oscar bait this year doesn't look that bad. It has returning Oscar-winner and milkshake man Daniel Day-Lewis playing Abraham Lincoln during the outset of the Civil War. It also has some other big names, like recent stars-in-everything actor Joseph Gordon Levitt (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Looper) and veteran Tommy Lee Jones (Men in Black and about a thousand other things). I generally don't like dry dramas though, biopics like this are no exception, and I can't say I've enjoyed Spielberg's recent work as much as his older works. Still, it's worth a look for some fantastic performances and if you like Oscar bait.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 2
MV5BMTcyMzUyMzY1OF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNDQ4ODk1OA@@._V1._SY317_.jpg
Release Date: November 16th
Director: Bill Condon
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner
1 out of 5 Stars

Why, you may ask, would you even give this a 1/5 stars? And I answer this with "It's funny as shit." These movies are quite good just in their trainwreck value. I end up getting a ton of solid laughs from it. It's a clusterfuck of mediocre directing, terrible acting, and laughable writing. It's just so bad that any movie buff can enjoy it purely for its terribleness. Sadly though, this will probably be hitting near record-breakers this year like The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises so avoid the theaters like a plague opening weekend.

Don't get me started on The Twilight Saga. Those films are such shit. And worst part is that the cast as a fair bit of promising and/or talented actors in it. Such a waste.

Oh about RZA, he's apparently a Martial Arts fanatic. He's said to be a walking encyclopedia in that regard. Film is still iffy. I haven't watched a decent martial arts flick in years. I'll probably wait for video just to be safe.

Everything else is a must-see for me. Especially SkyFall.

I really don't see much talent in the Twilight area. Kristen Stewart is just laughably bad in the films, it's not just poor directing there. Robert Pattinson, he seems to be a bit more decent in other things, but Taylor Lautner is a riot. The movies are bad but they're laughably bad.

Hate to sound like an elitist on martial arts flicks but I can't really find many good American-based martial arts flicks. There's some solid ones (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the Matrix can be counted as one), I've seen a few and they never seemed up to par with foreign ones. Plus the ads just seem dumb. Like some bad rap music playing over some goofy one liners. I would have appreciated it without the rap a bit more.

I was considering putting Flight on the list as well. Looked alright.

Pictures of the films aren't working, or is this only in my case?

I'm looking forward to Skyfall, I haven't read anything about it, but if it's really 'the best Bond movie ever', I better check it out! Might just go to the theatres to watch it.... Then again, The Hobbit is coming out soon too, I would rather waste my money on that.

Kristen Stewart can't act worth shit. Taylor Lautner isn't even worth commenting on. Robert Pattinson has promise but I fear he's going down the same road as the early Leonardo Dicaprio. Hopefully, he'll shake off the twishit off himself when the saga ends and become a seasoned actor. I was going to mention Chloë Grace Moretz but I was confusing her for Dakota Fanning so there aren't as many as I previously thought.

You have very right to weary of The Man with the Iron Fists. Russell Crowe might help it a little but I'm not going to pay $12.50 to find out. Pirate or Netflix.

Flight looks good but it feels like meager typecasting on Denzel Washington. It's like another "only he can do it because he can do the impossible" film. Similar to The Taking of Pelham 123 and Unstoppable. I think it will still be good film regardless and it just seems slightly repetitive.

SKYFALL
IS
FUCKING
AMAZING
Watched it yesterday, seriously, you people need to watch it.

That fucking theme is going to be stuck in my head for a long, long time, AND I AM GONNA LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

Was thinking of making a separate thread for it, but I am not sure how many people would be interested >>;

EDIT:
Forgot to type the question I made this post for derp.
When does Cloud Atlas come out again? It looked pretty interesting >3>

How did you get to see it? Just an early release in your country or something?

Cloud Atlas apparently came out last Friday. I was interested in it myself, I like Tom Hanks a lot but really can't stand Hallie (spelling?) Berry. Seems like an interesting concept though.

Also work mentioning that's not on my list is Life of Pi. It's from Ang Lee though so it's honestly a crapshoot. He's such a diverse director that it's hard to really pinpoint anything with his name on it. I mean the man did Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Hulk, and Brokeback Mountain. What.

Well we have topics for a lot of movies, I think Skyfall should have one for sure too. It's better to have 1 centralized topic where everyone can discuss and ventilate their ideas than to spread it all over the 'temp, possibly derailing topics too.
