The movie converter is SO SLOW, it's absurd.... Sometimes it just gives the standard windows error and shuts down...

IS this normal?
What am I doing wrong? Where should I put my movie file when it's done converting?

What container are you using for you video being converted? (for example ASF will not decode faster than realtime).

Also video conversion is a tricky buisness and it could be many things causing the hangup: bad/old codecs and codec conflicts are the main ones.
It could also be that the conversion simply takes a while becuase it has a lot to do (colourspace conversion, "improvement filters", resizing etc.).

Some info on your video would be nice:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ should be able to provide it.

Got the same problem with my brand new English version G6 Lite.

Running a AMD 2800+, 1GB Memory, GF6600GT GFX and in general an okay system...

All movie formats so far goes slow and crashed before the are done, with an "xxx encountered an error" type of message... running version 1.20 of the software!
