I'm trying to install Windows XP, and the directions in the torrents I have say to burn using Nero. I hate burning, and would rather just mount, so when I try to mount the iso and install XP, every single damn serial number I try is invalid. Is this because I'm mounting? The serial numbers I use were ones off my school computer so I know they were valid. Ones off the internet didn't work either.

Yeah, I downloaded the student edition and wanted to use the serial that came in the torrent, but it didn't work, so I downloaded just regular pro and tried using that with my school serials and the ones in the torrent and got nothing.

It is likely that serial you have for XP isn't for that version.
To my knowledge there are atleast 2 versions of XP Home OEM and I've come across atleast 10 versions of XP in total.

    EDIT: 1.1K Post !!!!

Would the schools have different versions of XP? On the product key it said something about being designed for Acer or something.

Its likely that those serials are for the manufactuer OEM Home version (as I call it), you would need a copy of XP Home OEM from a PC that was pre-built.
These are not easy to come by since Microsoft has banned their distrobution by manufactuers.

That serial should say the rough version it is for, home, pro, etc.

Yeah it was pro. So to use that serial I would need the pro OEM torrent? Or could I just go to Best Buy and grab one of their pro serial numbers that aren't OEM?

XP Professional is available in three types:
    Retail
    OEM
    Corporate

Your serial is likely to be OEM, but torrents (and other sources) might be corporate mislabeled, so you might end up downloading more than one copy.
Unless there is another version of XP Pro OEM that I don't know about it should be ok.
