They simply made a tiny trivial typo in "3DS" instead of "DS", no biggie, nothing else is wrong with it all:/
It isn't a typo if it was intended. They also don't know how rom patching works. If you're going to write an article at least understand what you're typing about

If you're interested in posting reliable news articles I'd like to remind you we have a User Submitted News section that we allow users to submit their own write ups to. If they're good enough they'll end up on the homepage alongside the regular news we post.

I was always interested in writing one there. I did make one post about the passing of Dragon Ball's Bulma's VA. If you could PM me the proper format to make a good article I could make some from time to time. Although Chary is super fast, she never sleeps.

This error isn't as egregious as most others. Sites like Polygon have made ridiculous mistakes like getting developers or companies, or other such things. Simple mistakes are easy to make, I try not to let any typos slip past, but everyone occasionally trips up. It depends on what outlet you read--there's a good number of "pro" game journo sites that have absolutely incompetent writers.

Have you heard of Nintendo Life? A couple of writers there have obvious bias and sometimes the comments turn into shit shows. I used to read the articles but not anymore.

But it WASN'T intended, thus why it's a typo. They even said "DS" further down and linked to the actual game page for the DS one, so it definitely wasn't intentional. Also, they said:
To play the game, you need to download the ROM, which is available on its website, and Newer Team says you will be able to patch your existing copy of New Super Mario Bros. to play on your own console.
Which is clearly different from what you claimed they said and they didn't even say anything about patching themselves, they were simply passing along what the people who developed the ROMhack said. Finally, it's obvious that the one who doesn't know about patching is you, especially how it's actually possible to patch both ROMs and actual cartridges (given the tools to do so) and how the linked page basically simply requires you to run an executable file that does everything automatically...

This is very true, I've seen much more serious errors (actual errors over simply an extra "3" by habit) on platforms as big as IGN and GameSpot!:P

That's not what I said. The article states you download the rom from the website. You download the patching tools from there. This is also a Gamespot article. I didnt mean any of those things in an offensive way, I just meant the way the article is written made me cringe

I stopped reading Push Square/Nintendo Life a looong time ago. Most of their reviews are just "its Nintendo/Sony: 9/10. Niche Gamer has terrible editorials, Kotaku and Polygon constantly have political topics shoved into their articles and incorrect information, Destructoid is elitist, PCGamer has copious typos, etc. It's hard to find competent gaming news/review sites. Eurogamer is the only one I can think of that's fairly reliable. Gematsu, too, for their ability to cover news so quickly, though they post it so fast, they lack vital information or context sometimes.

I think you missed this part:
To play the game, you need to download the ROM, which is available on its website, and Newer Team says you will be able to patch your existing copy of New Super Mario Bros.

But yeah, other than that, there is nothing wrong with it as far as I’m seeing.

Gaming articles written by non-gaming journalists on non-gaming websites trying to please gamers are much more cringeworthy in my opinion:rofl2:

There was the "PlayStation pornable" drama where it was stated that if you connect the PSP to the internet you can watch porn on it, so it is not safe for children. If anything can connect to the internet and has the ability to play videos and/or render picture of course you can find porn on there.

It isn't a typo if it was intended.
1) if you make these sorts of accusations, back then up. If you can't, then it's assumed a typo
2) assuming it is intentional... Why do you bother reading from the source?
3) one cringeworthy article from one writer on one side isn't representative. You don't even bother to attempt to convince anyone is more than just this one incident
4) as mentioned, the errors in these articles are trivial. One stupid one, but not worth crying about. With all the fake news and spin doctors in media these days, this is about the LEAST of the media's worries.

It wasn't just the DS, it was about Animal Crossing on Wii too and the retarded reporter thought Tom Nook was a stranger online, lol:rofl2:

This site is the only reliable news for games.

Most of the news on the internet are written from non-professionals. They write as fast as they can to get the news first without bothering to fact-check it. Professionals do it too, but not as much.

I don't really mind reading sites like Kotaku, Polygon, and the like. The politics don't bother me, nor do the opinions or "corruption" within them. I follow them on twitter and really only click on their articles when one that interest me comes up, which is how I got into doom mods like Ancient Aliens, or how I found out Nine Inch Nails is releasing the Quake 1 OST on vinyl. Maybe I'm a special case or something but I've never seen how all this corruption or bad journalism is really something that's so awful that it spawned dumb internet "protests" like whatever Gamergate was.

That explains everything alright.
