Well I've never played it but I thought Strikeforce was the same kind of game.
Go out with some friends and fight a giant monster being the point of each mission.

I guess you could call Phantasy Star Portable a Monster Hunter type game. I usually consider most loot-based third person action games to be Monster Hunter-esque. That's always been my view.
