Monolith Soft is hiring development staff for The Legend of Zelda series

dsadad.png

A new recruitment page has gone live on Monolith Soft's website, where it appears that they're looking to hire for work on an upcoming The Legend of Zelda game. The company is looking for programmers, designers, management support, and technical artists that wish to assist with creating something related to the Zelda series. This wouldn't be the first time that they've been involved with the franchise, as we know that Monolith Soft previously aided development on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Monolith Soft is most recently known for Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2, and has three development studios on Japan, with two of them confirmed for working on future titles. This news follows last year's recruitment drive by the company, which was looking for new developers for work on a brand new JRPG. which is referred to as "production 1", while this Zelda project is known internally as "production 2".

Imagine them going even more futuristic. lol Now that they have BOTW, whatever they do doesn't have to be from scratch.
If this game gets made, I hope it has
So basically takeout almost everything that makes this Zelda unique. No middle grounds. lol

Still, they will probably take things out simply to mix things up once again. I doubt they would get rid of the stamina feature tho.

Stamina was in the skyward sword. So it's not as unique. Also it's annoying. So personal opinion, a hindered and a limitation to the player for adding difficulty balance. :ninja:

Is not the problem of what is unique, it's just frustrations about my experience. I got used to it because I wanted to finish the game but doesn't mean I grown to enjoy it.

Don't mind me. I'm just here to rant about Breath of the Wild and the new fresh gameplay Nintendo implemented.

You know me from threads like "The Legend of Zelda is always the same - lame!" and "When does this series try something great again?"

Nintendo always tries to do something with the Zelda series which is why I like this series. I actually liked Skyward Swords motion controls. I didn't have much of the problems other people had. I didn't like the slow starting intro though, something BOTW did better.

They need to get better voice actors. Voice acting in BOTW was pretty bad.

I hope they give you more controls customization. Also, a two worlds feature for a BOTW type game could be nice.

I wasn't specifically talking about the stamina system. That's why I said almost everything unique. It makes you think about your battles and locations more and gives you a sense of progression. Idk, I like it.

I was more getting at that you don't seem to like most of the new features, to the point that you just want to get rid of it all rather than tweak anything. For example, having big dungeons as well as small dungeons.

hopefully they are helping in porting Zelda:The Skyward Sword to the switch(if they would ever make it). But it would be nice if the new Zelda had real dungeons and all the classic mechanics from past Zelda titles (if it would be a complete new game in the series). It could also be that we are getting a Zelda spinoff. But let's see

My thoughts exactly. Monolithsoft are basically gods in my eyes. They put not only a game like Xenoblade 1 on the Wii of all things, but they put it on the 3DS too! XCX was a masterpiece in terms of scale and scope.

I have no opinion on Breath of the Wild or its successor(s) because I haven't even touched it yet. But it's hard to imagine them moving away from that engine after the single game. I could picture the next Zelda game to be like Majora's Mask was to Ocarina of Time; basically a sequel but reuses certain elements and goes way left-field with some new ideas.

Because
  • The weather system is annoying, constantly changing equipment for different reasons like thunderstorms attract electric from the metal you have, or not climbing rocks in the rain or hot/cold temperatures
  • Durability in weapon systems where things break so easy after less than 15 swings. People say "It encourages the player to try different things" what encourages me to try different things are the special effects and power stat influence new things have when I get them. Not constantly breaking them, forcing me to do it.
  • Having ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SHRINES SPREAD ACROSS THE HUGE WORLD OF HYRULE was mind numbing at the very thought, not to mention NINE HUNDRED KOROK SEEDS.
  • I would appreciate quality over quantity. Some of them was "Fight this ancient machine, Use the motion controls, Solve this riddle" and someone who just got used to "go to this dungeon, find this special key item, use it to finish the dungeon" metroid mentality, that was consistent is just curious.
Basically, I don't think the way the game is was bad. Combat is okay, just most of the stuff lacks appeal other than messing around with the goofy exploits people find. Catapult rocks using stasis rune momentum, magnetic boomerang with electric shock, Dropping boxes on enemies with magnesis and stuff. There is fun to the combat and crazy ideas people can do with the game, but when fighting last less than 2 minutes, it doesn't give much time to do some of these crazy things. :P

adaptable dungeons maybe? the more you solve, the harder the next ones get. though it'd have to be procedural in some ways and therefore not carefully crafted puzzles...hmm. or maybe you could do both if you...*mumble, mumble*

....don't mind me, just wanting to have my cake and eat it too. very exciting news for sure. glad they're on the job.

I really liked the open world of BOTW, but would have liked if there were items that you would need to solve the puzzles in dungeons, that you only could get from other dungeons.
I would actually like to see dungeons that are connected to each other, in a way that you have to start in dungeon 1 to get an item. The item can be used in dungeon 2 to get another item. Now you can go back to the first dungeon to finish it, to get the final something to be able to beat the second dungeon.
It's linear, but not linear. And maybe if that could be designed with sequence breaking in mind. It is possible to progress without the right items if you just are clever enough, without "breaking" anything.

Hmm... yeah... writing down a Zelda wish list :P

This is pretty much how Phantom Hourglass works. You have that one main dungeon that requires certain items to progress. Every time you get a new item, you can get further in the dungeon.

The mechanic is a good ides, but it really sucked in PH. The problem was that I kept forgetting what to do in the main dungeon and ended up wasting time in areas I had already completed.. It's not a bad idea, but I doubt nintendo will try the same thing again.

Oh yeah, and stamina really, really sucks.
I absolutely hate having to worry about link getting tired, cold, or hungry. I'm playing a video game, not caring for a fucking baby.

I also hate how items break and there's so much crap to collect in BOTW and Skyward sword.
It was more like an RPG than a zelda game and I really disliked it.
The last zelda game I enjoyed was TP.

Most people don't know that. They should. :ninja:

Easy?

YOU DIE IN ONE HIT AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE GAME! That's not even master mode which makes the game slightly harder. :wtf:

You must be some gaming god to call breath of the wild easy, especially from the start. I play many zelda games before breath of the wild, and this one was the longest it took me to finish.
It's actually one of the more basic Zelda games..

Yeah, I didn't like PH, mainly for that big main dungeon. it didn't feel natural, like I wish the stuff I mentioned would do.
Having a big living world, and having the dungeons just being there. And for the dungeons to not feel as much as a game, having them not being self contained.

Procedural dungeons sounds like it would be more for monster waves/bosses than procedural puzzles.
...but they worked on BOTW.
Maybe they meant with no oversight or at least most of the control.
