Hmm. Piraters love their gun games!
Us silly PC gamers..
But damn, that must hurt!
No surprise there.
And just how exactly did they get those numbers?
Well TorrentFreak is like.. a news center for most things BitTorrent related.
So I imagine they got their numbers from various major torrent sites.
Yeah but the figure would still be way off. That doesn't include newgroups or private/scene FTP servers. It's more of an approximation of how many times it's been torrented, rather than pirated.
well this gives bigger publishers/devs more reason to develop games for consoles over pc's.
I haven't snatched MW2...yet. I don't have a capable PC. Although I want to play with my buddies online so I may just get it through Steam.
Wait...$60?! What the hell? That's like... 26 rides on the NYC Subway! Good god!
Soon regular mini-games will be $100 with our PS6 and XBox 1080.
Sad... but probably quite true. >.>
Gee, $60 for 18 player online and a 4 hour campaign... this is sooooo surprising.
Sounds like an awfully bloated "scare the masses" number.
Oh yes it does, remember that overestimated numbers of the swine flu? Its really the same thing but only this time, the public will never know how much Modern Warfare 2 has been pirated
...which is why I "legaly obtain" DS games. $40 for a game? Crazy!
I feel like making a game titled "Pirate This Game" where you play as a Pirate on his quest to steal a videogame, then releasing it on Steam for $5.
That would be funny.
Oh, and legaly, it isn't stealing. It's copyright infringement.
A number is just a number
Yeah but didn't they also sell a fuckton of Modern Warfare 2?
Piracy problem or not that game did amazingly well, unlike Spore.
You could make it an ultra realistic sim of how pirating was before the net. You'd have to source card numbers or a blue box line, then sit there for fucking hours watching the game upload to a 0-hour BBS at 14.4k. Then do it again for other WHQs and affiliates. You could even call it "Rogue Trader", or "Illicit Trader". Although the second is actually the handle of a well known trader from the Miggy days. You could even have achievements like becoming a group courier, being well known enough to get credit card #'s for free.
How many of the people who downloaded it would have otherwise legally purchased it?
That's what I thought.
Anti-piracy people need to STFU and ask studios to stop upping graphic quality and leaving behind that little detail called SINGLE FUCKING PLAYER CAMPAIGN. Not everybody plays on-line, dammit!
