So basically, I got my supplies today. Which consist of some LEDs, rapid fire mod kit (blahblahblah), and some flux. I went ahead, and installed a blue LED on one of my controllers, and I must say. Those things are crazy tiny. I lost one, or two but luckily I bought 5. For .99 cents. Which was sweet, not that LEDs would cost too much. Here's the end result, and with me asking about installing one to the RF board in the Shoutbox I was persuaded to do it. So there's a pic of that, as well.

Now, as for the poll. I recently ordered another ton of supplies such as a rework station, thermal paste, and such. Would anyone be interested in a free GBAtemp repair thing? >.< I sort of cut off doing anything due to the whole thread flashing fiasco, which is behind me now. I'll be able to do reflows, and change out thermal paste first. Then after a long trial, and error with my broken 360s I might be able to reball. That off course is a decent ways away, but I thought I'd mention it. I was also tempted to start up Free Flashing again, but I decided against and sold off my tools. Another question for the users is, would you like another Free Flashing thread? If so I might possible start up a donation page if there's enough interest, in order to buy some new tools. I'll add that to the poll as well. Shoot, I may even do free RGHing's as long as you pay for the chip. Thanks everyone.

A normal hot air station isn't able to do a full reflow (you'll just have the same effect of an hair-dryer, more or less) and most certainly not a reballing, since you'll also an IR station for that (which has been on my "must buy" list for a long long time, but they cost €300+ from CHINA) as BGAs can't be heated uniformly with normal air-heating and they won't just come off :P

Alas, reballing also requires a pre-heater to pre-heat the board... And obviously the solder balls of the right size, BGA flux of a good quality, a 360 chipset stencil (those can be quite costly) and a little stencil support (can't remember their exact name) - add to that that it's not for the faint of heart, as it's really difficult to place all the balls correctly...

Yes I know these are potentially temporary fixes, but for $20 (Cost of shipping.) you can expand your console's working life for a few months to a year. Unless of course it's a reball.

It'll be a pretty nice past time. I agree. People here usually sell off their Xboxs when they Red Ring for about $10-$30. Since they're out of warranty, and they'd just rather buy a new one. I usually stay away from those selling in bulk, because that just says that they attempted a fix and failed therefore I'm not going to be able to do much better. Ones that come with controllers, and such usually indicate someone used it frequently, and they just had a bad misfortune with the dreaded RRoD. I sent you a PM, thanks again.

Alright, little update. I got it in, but still waiting for thermal paste. It's not the best rework station, but it'll do.

Here's my first attempted at installing rapid fire chip on controller. (Blahblahblah.) Electrical tape to keep wires in place while I soldered them.
