My mate just bought a cheap premium. The problem with it is that it's drive has a firmware with no key in it, so it doesn't read any xbox games. Is it possible to bring the console back to life somehow? Install a modchip perhaps?

Edit: thread description should have a questionmark. Whoops.

Sadly not, the drive is useless without the key and there is no way of extracting a key from the console. [IMG]

I thought that you can put in a generic key, I forget where I read it. So I'm not sure. But check around.

Hmm I thought you meant something like this persons problem:

But I think the drive has to have a key? Try firmtool like that topic says

You can extract the dvd key from the motherboard using the infectus modchip, but in order to do that you need an working drive.
Since you haven't got an working dvd drive you are screwed.
In other words, the 360 is useless now.
