Hacking modded vWii, can only load games using IOS 251. USB Loader GX

I just recently modded vWii on my Wii U, following this guide wiiu.hacks.guide/#/vwii-modding, everything went smoothly but I'm having a few minor issues.

For some reason my games will only boot with IOS 251 (d2x-v10-beta52-vWii base 58). With IOS 249 and 250 (d2x-v10-beta52-vWii base 56 &57) I just get a black screen and my Wii U kicks me back to the system menu. I'm using the latest USB Loader GX.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Are you using a Flash Drive/USB Stick/Pen Drive/Thumb Drive ?
Which USB Port did you use please ?

I'm using a standard USB hard drive enclosure with a 750gb hard drive inside. I've used this drive with my Wii for years with no issues. I have it powered externally for the Wii U but I also tried a y-cable. I am connecting to the lower USB port on the back of the console.

Please try the upper Port for the Datacable (mostly the thicker Cable) and the lower Port for the Powercable if you use the Y-Cable.
Please try the upper Port only if you use the standard USB Cable.

Yes my cIOS setup is identical to this guide. I just tried switching to the upper port, booted up Klonoa on IOS 249 and it actually worked this time! Thank you! I have not tried any other games yet but I'm assuming that was the trick.

edit- tried a few different games with IOS 249 and they all worked just fine. problem solved.

I spoke too soon. Looks like I have a new problem now. With the vWii drive in the top port and the Wii U hard drive plugged into the bottom port (both powered externally), USB Loader GX gives me the error "USB Device not initialized. Switching to channel list mode." It is only able to initialize the vWii drive if I have the Wii U drive unplugged.

I don't have this problem with the vWii drive in the bottom port and the Wii U drive in the top port, but when I do that I can only load games using IOS 251.

Yes,that is not a always working Solution.There is an "Workaround" Thread here on GBAtemp how a 2 HDD Setup work.

Is your Wii U Drive maybe "hidden" with UStealth ?

You can try to change the Loader´s IOS
USBLoader GX - Settings/Global Settigs - Loader Settings - Loader´s IOS 58 or 249.
Then restart the Loader after Changing please.

You can maybe try an older Revision for the USBLoader GX,r1268 or 1271 are also ok.

No, only the vWii drive is hidden with UStealth. USB Loader GX's IOS was set to 58 already, but I just tried with IOS 249 as you suggested and everything worked fine when plugged into the correct ports. (vWii on port 0, Wii U on port 1). Loading games with IOS 249 and 250 worked. No errors initializing USB drive.

So for whatever reason when I had USB Loader GX's IOS set to 58 I had to have vWii on port 1, Wii U on port 0 and only IOS 251 was working to load games..... but after I changed the loader's IOS to 249.everything seems to work as expected.

Thanks for the advice. It's been really helpful. Hopefully I got it sorted now.
