MK DS online: the rules have changed!

The rules of Mario Kart DS online mode have changed.

I've just noticed it: twice in a row, I was about to win a 1-on-1 game and then the guy disconnected just before the end. I then went to check my records -yes, twice!- and, OH! My number of wins was not increased

It seems indeed that this rule was cancelled, or restricted to 3 or 4 players games (to be confirmed?).


Update 2: in 3 or 4 players mode, you'll still get the 2 or 3 wins. But not in 1-on-1 games.

Some people - including me - have recently pointed out that when playing "World" or "Continental" online
tournaments at Mario Kart, even though you start the tournament with 3 other players, the tournament
often ends up with only a 1-on-1 battle, due to people who cannot stand to loose games. This is
particularly annoying, since if you win the tournament, you won't get 3 victories but only 1.
The disconnectors do get the 3 or 2 losses though, but you don't get the f*cking 3 wins!!


This has happened to me so many times that I'm glad to break this news: the rules have changed.
Now if you start a 4-player tournament, and win it, you will ALWAYS get your 3 wins no matter how many
people finish the tournament! I heard the news earlier in the afternoon but could only check it out by myself
a few minutes ago: I DID get my 3 wins (oh and I absolutely don't feel
sorry for you, "cacahuet", "[email protected]" and the other disconnector that I just pwned

).

PS: of course this doesn't apply to the 'friends' mode, I'm sure you can understand why...

When I got my 30 points after 3 rounds, he disconnected. And I did not get my winning point...

I don't think they can change any gameplay features...
IMO snaking it's just another part of the game...for me it was almost impossible to win all the singleplayer cups without doing so

snaking was possible in Mario Kart Double Dash, too, btw...

what ruins the game for me is the half-assed online mode (there are 12 courses missing...)

IMO MKDD is better than MKDS in almost every aspect...the course design's better, the gameplay's better, and it's much more fun in multiplayer mode...

those courses and the dragging weapons feature were most likely removed because they probably dropped the framerate to an unplayable level. considering the relitavely limited capabilites of the ds, i thinkthey did a great job, and there's still 20 multiplayer tracks.

as for snaking, you need to learn it to get golds and stars on the 150cc events, so anybody that complains about it probably hasn't been able to finish the game, in addition to losing online.

No you don't, you just need to practice a lot.

I have already won some tournaments in 150cc mirror modes, with 1-star rank class, and I didn't use snaking techniques (I can use turbo drifts though)...

Care to explain how I beat 150cc without snaking then?
I got A's and Stars for all my ranks, too.
Snaking online is just wrong; its not a purposed part of the game.
