Miyamoto Confirms Zelda HD Is Coming To Wii U

Shigeru Miyamoto has finally confirmed that an HD Zelda title is currently in development for the Wii U. Miyamoto wouldn’t announce whether it would be a launch title, but he did say that that game would introduce some interesting new gameplay experiences, which include some of the features that were introduced in the spectacular E3 Zelda demo. Who’s excited?[/p]

“This is an HD system, our first HD system, and we want to create a real HD Zelda game for it,” he said. “You will see a lot of these in-depth and deep experiences in terms of visual style. You will also see some play styles that are fun and interesting because of the play structure.”

Is anybody surprised? This is like saying water is wet, alcohol gets you drunk, cars drive fast, and the sun is hot.

Seriously, I'd be surprised if they didn't make a new Zelda for the WiiU. Zelda is basically one of their mascots just like Mario is. Not making a Zelda game would cost them A LOT of fans.

We knew a Zelda game would come to the Wii U. A Zelda game has always come to a Nintendo console/device (with the exception of the failed VB). The demo itself was not proof that a Zelda game was coming to Wii U. The Zelda demo (like the bird demo) was made specifically to show what the Wii U could do. It's like the GC demo of Mario 128.

But considering that the system is not out yet, I doubt we will see an HD Zelda till at least 2014.

I heard it on some live stream at e4, they confirmed there wont be a Zelda month 1.

E3 or not, a new Zelda is always obvious, now if there was a news for F-Zero, that would be awesome since it hasn't raced its way to Wii.

They only showed that to demonstrate another way of using the Wii U controller and the power of the system (even though it was just a cutscene AFAIK)
