Hacking Mis-labled PNY 2GB cards at Walmart are 4GB SDHC.

Just a head ups there are 2GB PNY cards at Walmart that turn out to be 4GB SDHC when you plug them in or read the back. They are a black 2 pack...(sigh) the fates are conspiring against my mod. Looking forward to Hykem's release.

Are you trying to mod your vWii?
If so, try formatting sd card to make available 2gb or under 2gb of space.
(I believe this works. Perhaps someone has a link to a post on gbatemp that they could add that verifies this.)

Everything I've read suggests this doesn't work, I didn't want to try it because I couldn't find anything on the brick risk from an attempt.

If you don't want to install any Cios or HBC, then you will not substantially change your vWii(almost all changes will be non persistent). So you can safely use:

Requirements:

- SD NON-HC (better if blank/clean to avoid potentially fatal installation of old Wii non-compatible WADs - 4Gb but better 2Gb or smaller; 4Gb can be HC and HC cards will not work; 2GB are surely not HC)

I thought SDHC was a non starter, thus the warning to my fellow xmas adopters about the bunk wallyword cards. I'm out in the woods and we only get mail dropped once a month to say you just saved a very boring xmas would be an understatement .

Just took these home I wish I had seen this before purchasing WTG Walmart give you a 4GB freebie that manages to bone you.

Please post a update if you manage to mod vwii from a big card.

Can confirm no luck using BATHAXX with a SDHC as I was saying, tried a Sandisk, kingmax, sony and panasonic cards. Stuck until I can get ahold of 2GB card or if anyone knows a SDHC compatible hack.

I did on one attempt with one card. I didn't try them all, a lot of people think you can run the disc exploits to get HBC installed I think they are mistaken.

I keep reading plainly: You cannot use any SDHC card regardless of formatting or partitioning to install a softmod on vWii.

Both homebrew and the wii itself used to be limited to non-HC cards. As such, some older games (notably Brawl) and homebrew may still lack / have shaky support for HC cards.

I can't say whether or not it'll hinder initial setup but I know for sure that things like Brawl hacks which rely on SD loading (via the game's older standards) wouldn't work.
