    I though about trick the MIOS patcher, by downloading MIOS v10 as base, to install it offline, changing the files names in order MIOS patcher "think" that it working under v8, when it really is patching v10.

    tmd10 -----> tmd.8
    cetk -----> cetk
    0000000b --> 00000007
    0000000c --> 00000008

    Any advice? it's safe? brick alert?

    I don't like Waninkoko's cMIOS it has that GC loader logo IIRC =/, furthermore MIOS patcher has been worked flawlessly for me so far.

    You still can't avoid it; WiiGator's cMIOS shows a green GameCube splash screen. [IMG]

    I don't see why you would want MIOS v10 specifically, as there's nothing new included with MIOS updates except security updates (like blocking the Tweezer attack and Action Replays).

    Regardless, I *think* it works if you patch the TMD make it look like MIOS v8. Doing this is safe; worst thing that'll happen is GameCube mode is broken, but that can be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling MIOS.

    Yes, but MIOS patcher it only shows a green screen with the Backup Loader, retail disc works just like a normal MIOS, that's why I don't like Waninkoko's one, it does affect retail disc through Disc Channel (only aesthetically, but I'm a picky)

    I need MIOS v10, because retail disc promt me a disc update, MIOS patcher only support until v8, so I though this way could kill 2 birds with one shot =P

    Install the cMIOS with the freatures you want, then extract its wad. Extract the wad, change the revision in the tmd to 65535, and pack it again. After installing this wad, you will never be prompted to update because of the cMIOS again.

    Changing the file names doesn't work, the installer say something like v10 =! v8
    It read the version from the inside the file =P

    But cMIOS is the one that have that GC Loader text before loading =/, I test it some time ago, I don't know if there new version without text.

    Any patched MIOS (including the one made by WiiPower's installer) is referred to as cMIOS. Install the patched MIOS with WiiPower's installer, extract it as a WAD, change the revison, install.

    You could extract it with WAD Creator v1.0
    from Wanin or you make a Dump of your FS
    and extract it with ShowMiiWads...

    EDIT: you also can use ShowMiiWads to change the version.
