Minisforum announces its new mini PC that looks like a PS5 and has a GTX 4070

Minisforum is launching a new mini PC, one that maximizes power, in as slim a form factor as possible. Designed to sort of look like the PlayStation 5, the Minisforum AtomMan G7 TI is extremely flat, while also rocking as much power as a beefy gaming laptop. Inside the machine is the mobile NVIDIA 4070 graphics card, an Intel® Core i9-14900HX Processor, and a staggering amount of vents to keep the machine cool. There's even a little RGB flair to perfect the gaming aesthetic, though the AtomMan G7 TI is also being marketed as a workstation PC, since it takes up so little space and has plenty of computing power. The "barebones" edition of the G7 TI is available for pre-order now, starting at $1,159.00, with plans to ship out on September 10th.

Seems like it must be competing w/ the ASUS ROG NUC which has similar specs:
ASUS officially launches ROG NUC a 2.5 liter PC with up to Core Ultra 9 185H and RTX 4070

I kinda dig it. Provided it’s easily repairable

I’m tired of buying gaming laptops and them being dead weight in a year lol

Looks like a PS5? No, it looks like a router, and PS5 looks like a router, it doesn't mean they both look alike

I'll agree. It looks like "a" router. As in similar to one (maybe 2-3 tops) in the 15 pages of routers I looked at on Amazon. I've never agreed with the entire statement from the start as the majority of routers look nothing like that.

I agree, it looks like a modem... Is it as big or heavy as a ps5? Clearly it's not nearly as thick.

If there are vents everywhere, does that mean it has to be 12 in. from everything else?

If you decide to review this, show us the inside and the outputs. And run RPCS3 on it for emulation specs...

I wouldn't be surprised if it's effectively just a laptop motherboard in a desktop case.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if the i9/4070 will be throttled by thermals?

I own a laptop with a 4070 in. It's surprisingly cool when the fans are going.
However... the Intel is another story. They are so extremely warm so I wonder how bad it might throttle as you say. Also I hope Minisforum give out the microcode patch that hopefully won't nuke processors anymore.

Yeah, that comparison never made sense to me either.

"looks like a PS5"

Yeah if you've got your hand covering your eyes
^ This tbh
They might've taken inspiration from the PS5 when designing the protruding edges but that's about the only thing they have in common.
Which is probably a good thing, as Sony is known to sue companies who copy their design. dbrand already got sued by them.

The row of LEDs give it that router look (are they LEDs? Looks like it from the picture but hard to say for sure)
Also kinda looks like a cable set top box.
