Just how low can I go and still be able to play at least one game at a time.
4 GB would be sufficient?

If your intention is to only play one game at a time then 4GB is all you need. In fact, 4GB is enough for quite a few games depending on the title obviously. You'll get 2-3 full retail games on their easily and maybe a couple of smaller indie titles as well.

Depends on the game & if you're talking digital only or game cart. Some higher end digital games like Code:Realize, Disgaea 4, Final Fantasy X, MGS HD Collection, etc are 3gb-3.5gb in size. When you figure formatting loss, misc loss due to OS, & save game sizes, I don't think 4gb will quite cut it.
(This is all assuming legit system w/ legit games, "backups" on a CFW I can't comment on)
