Minecraft is a genuinely good game and had shaped a lot of people's childhoods already. You can play it for a long time and even if you get bored, you eventually always come back to it from time to time.
Fortnite is a fad. It also has much less content and is more repetitive than Minecraft. And since it's a live service, eventually its servers will go down and make it unplayable forever.
Now, I'm not saying that Fortnite is a bad game, it certainly is fun for people who are interested in the genre, but it is bound to be less fun and memorable than Minecraft.

Steps up to mic, straightens tie, clears throat, taps mic.

"This thing on?"

Murmurs of assent.

Clears throat again.

"Minecraft good."

The crowd excitedly begins to talk amongst themselves, many holding bated breath.

"Fortnite..."

A hush falls over the crowd, rapt attention held.

"Bad."

Suddenly, the crowd goes wild, screaming their praise, demanding awards, running over each other to hug a loved one. Whistles of elation are heard and many are seen sobbing. World peace is enacted in acknowledgement to this monumental speech that knit the world together.
