I'm scared of malware now. I don't think malware could be any more destructive.

    This shit is scary.
I've been hearing about this for years but this is the first time malware like this has come to fruition (IIRC).

Is there any reason for such important computer systems to run windows? You'd think for something so important they'd invest in creating their own OS.

This news is complete crap, if this was so important and our so call military has prior knowledge to this then why can't they stop its origin? Now Obama is going to spend $$$ just to stop 'cyber'terrorism.

This reminds me of die hard 4 where the virus makes your computer explode..
I remember thinking "that's bullshit, a virus can't turn your computer into a grenade"

Most that can do is burn down your CPU.

Computers don't explode, they just smoke in the worst case.

That would cost too much. They basically run Windows as a base then override most of the normal functions with different programs and protocols. I think that's how it works anyway. The Tills at the place I work run Windows but they never boot into windows normally and then load programs there's some command line thing that comes up first and stops explorer etc. loading.

We're talking about power plants here.

The dutch GARBAGE DUMPS have their own OS, why not a power plant?

I answered anyway. Its cost, simple as that. I just used my Till as an example of a computer that runs Windows as a base but doesn't really use it. If the Dutch have the money to make their own OS for their systems good on them but companies look to save money however they can. If they can run Windows and be just as efficient without the hassle of developing their own OS they will.
