    xbox-live.

Microsoft is planning to bring its cross-platform development tools and Xbox Live services to Android, iOS, and the Nintendo Switch.
If Nintendo agrees, this could unlock cross-platform compatibility with games, achievements, and social features (e.g. the friends list and posts).

I think cross platform play with friends is okay. But with anyone, keep me away. I have fears you know. I buy fighting games on switch knowing the professional players play on the playstation more than the switch. I don't want seasonal beatings from online esports players on ps4 while I'm playing on my comfy switch. :ninja:

Of course I do support cross play as a means of having more people to play with especially in co-op or mmo games. Just not competitive ones.

No thanks, I prefer Nintendo to run and manage the online service.

    On your lap.
They should partner up and replace Nintendo Switch Online with a quality service.

Bold move. Let'em come. One more reason to go legit. Or maybe not. I like not having my hobby splattered in a kind-of social network, but a lot of people that take gaming a bit more seriously might be pleased with this.

    It's a nice move, actually.

You mean a broader horizon for gamers of all types to connect and play?? Those BASTARDS. How dare they hold a pro-consumer stance in the face of adversity from the likes of their competition.

    lol. I know.
as long as we all benefit, but I still think that there-s something else...like, they want to do their own fornite or something. And minecraft is too old for that kind of plan.
    maybe master chief goes multiplatform?

Sure, this might be good... for now, the effect this might have on the future of gaming is concerning, between the typical cloud gaming concerns, like the amount of control it gives companies over your game library, latency (input lag) issues, etc. there’s also the possibility of a partial monopoly being created in the distant future if XCloud does well enough. I can already imagine a world where - regardless of the hardware you’re playing on - most of if not your entire video game library will require you to use Microsoft’s Xbox services to play them, there’s a ton of anti-consumer practices that could arise from such a thing.

Is that what they're advertising is cloud gaming? Or just a service for all gamers to connect to and play online on their platform of choice? I think you're reading way too much into it.
