Microsoft Dev Account Controversy, PCSX2 Vulkan Update, RE Fan Remakes, PSVR2 & more - Tempcast #71

tempcast-169-logo-png.246523
Sometimes you have weeks when nothing really happens. Then you have weeks like this, when a ton of news both from the homebrew communities and mainstream gaming media is revealed. In this episode, we start off with the biggest controversy so far in 2022 - Microsoft seemingly out of the blue removing dev access for people who paid for it on the Xbox platform, and then doing a complete 180, not 360 as many would expect. We then discuss how GoldenEye 007 might be getting a remaster/remake (maybe?) soon, as well as two community led remakes of Resident Evil and Code Veronica. PCSX2, the well established PS2 emulator (THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE WIIU AND NEVER WILL BE, SORRY CRAIG FOR LAST WEEKS SCREW UP - Relauby), is finally getting Vulkan support, and promises to deliver better performance compared to the OpenGL renderer. Finally, we end the episode talking about PSVR2 and some rumors.

if it was that easy, xbox softmods would exist outside of OG xbox softmods and one ancient long-patched 360 exploit

The only reason they don't exist is due to the Dev Account discouraging hacking. But the Xbox One has beem discontinued and sooner or later they will pull the plug in online services, that's when people may get interested in hacking it.

That'd tempt me to buy an Xbox One X. Love the design of the console and it's still pretty powerful for what it is.

Plus, Xbox BC on Xbox One/Series is awesome.

if it was as easy as you think they'd already exist

They already hacked the PS5 twice, is just the exploits are not public yet. The only reason the Xbox One has not been hacked yet is the Dev account and the fact almost all games are also for PC or for other consoles so there is no motivation.

There was people that bought the wrong console due to confusing it is.
Xbox 360 has a model that looks nearly identical to a One, and Xbox One S looks similar to a Series S.

Microsoft isn't guilty of false advertisement, but close to it. They need to differentiate console designs a lot more.
