PCB: https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/18trdVaa
micro SD socket: https://www.amazon.com/Spring-Loaded-Transflash-Memory-Socket/dp/B00E6QKT5U/
specs: https://github.com/xyzz/gamecard-microsd

Solder the micro SD card socket to the PCB. It only needs to be less than the thickness of a game card, 2mm.

does the board fit into the socket (is it sticking out?)
what do you mean with soldier? (i hope not like soldier cables to the motherboard like on 3ds hardmod because i cant do that)

Is it cheaper to make your own or to buy from someone who mass produce it? Is it stable yet?

It's still a PoC so I'd say no not 100% stable though early tests by others indicate there is very little in the way of problems when assembled properly. As for expense that depends on how you look at it: you can order enough parts to build 10 of them for 15 USD or you can buy one from someone like moredrugsmore3somes for $10 each (when they become available that is). The advantage to buying parts and making your own include having backup adapters and being able to sell a few of those extras off, but if you suck at soldering you may want to buy one preassembled to ensure it works.

Like I said it depends on how you look at it.

Anyone know the max size of micro SD card this supports? I skimmed through the comments and post trying to find it but I just don't see any mention of it

Theoretically it should support even the biggest SD card size at the moment, since the Vita supports exFat. So just plop the biggest msd you can find in it.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, just want to make sure.

what i need:
  • vita with henkaku
  • latest molecule shell
  • printed pcb board of the provided design with 1mm thickness
  • micro sd card socket
  • micro sd card of any size
what i need to do:
  • solder the micro sd card socket to the pcb board
  • put the adapter to the game slot
question:
  1. can i swap the between vita card and adapter?
  2. what happens to the vita card when i'm using the adapter?(i mean is it just in standby until the adapter removed?)
  3. can i remove the adapter anytime or do i need to do something first?
  4. can i still use gamecart normally?
  5. [EDIT] is it risk free? for the vita i mean

1mm thickness was suggested by the designer but 0.8mm and 1.6mm have been tested and work fine.

There is a fair bit of software setup required - see my guide on reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/vitahacks/comments/6nwtkj/setting_up_your_gamecard_to_microsd_adapter/

1. yes but you'd need to edit your tai config.txt each time and refresh the live area to re-sync your bubbles
2. nothing much - you can use another little plugin to mount it as external uma0 storage
3. no - turn off the console
4. power off and on again
5. pretty much

Wow, thanks a bunch for the tutorial. Not really following the vita scene, but the current Henkaku still need to be activated after reboot right?

[EDIT] what is uma0 used for?
