me and my friend tried to hunt online together me using the mh3u cartridge and him using my r4i gold deluxe and we cant seem to play together so my question is does the r4 gold deluxe support wifi/online play

MH3U multiplayer isn't online to begin with. There isn't even an online multiplayer option.
There's only local multiplayer, so you shouldn't need online play unless you want the DLC quests.
