Metroid: Rogue Dawn coming later this year (ROM hack)

While fans continue to hope for an official announcement about Metroid at this year's E3 press conference, in the meantime you can look forward to an unoffical Metroid game whose developer aims a summer release this year. Metroid: Rogue Dawn is a hack of the original NES Metroid and features a new storyline with Dawn Aran, the sister of Samus, use of the MMC3 mapper, new visuals and recycles some stuff from later Metroid games, making it a completly new game.

According to the developer, Rogue Dawn is a prequel to Metroid and is an attempt to fill in the missing details at the root of the series. You can read more about this hack here.

the problem with these fan hacks is half the time they never finish them. i've seen it happen to countless sonic games as well as others.

I've been following this project for a while over at romhacking dot net. Really cool to see it shared over here Some nice effort is going into this romhack, and fans of the series should def check it out to see all the new stuff!

romhacking is a super interesting and cool area of gaming that not many fans are seemingly aware of.
