i have an old wii but have not tryed brawl yet and am planning to get prime trilogy so if i had to send it in to nintendo i would think that they would try to play a game on my wii to make sure it can run dual layer disks. so should i turn preloader off so it auto boots to system menu and then put homebrew on my SD card(as a back up)
would nintendo A) try and update my wii(i have hacks.ini so it wont ask for updates but just curious)
B)not fix my wii if they find out i have homebrew
C)do something to my wii so homebrew would not work anymore or just send me a new wii with crappy LU64 stuff.
    D)somethin else

if anyone has done this with brawl i would really like to know. i know i could just use a USB loader but i do like the collectors edition of prime 3 it looks really cool.

EDIT: in the OP i meant to write metriod prime trilogy not metroid prime 3 sorry my bad [IMG]

At the cost of shipping, its hardly worthwhile...

Besides, a lens cleaner is a lens cleaner. They are all the same, you wouldn't have to buy a Nintendo one, anything designed for a dvd player would be fine, and cheaper.

Nintendo will fix dual layer issues out of warranty (people who've clearly tampered with their Wii still were able to get their Wiis repaired) similar to how Microsoft extended the 360 warranty for RROD stuff. You can try to ask them not to update your console. The repairs are outsourced to other companies and the techs don't have that much reason to care about Nintendo's agendas. The only disadvantage is that your disk drive will likely be replaced by one with epoxy so hard modding is that much harder.

I suggest you simply install BootMii, ask them not to replace your Wii, and just restore your NAND backup if they update it.

Same here. I have a launch day Wii and it's never had any issues with Brawl. Or any other games, for that matter.

Well since you are on GBAtemp, I'm going to assume that you have or if you haven't you know how to mod your Wii.

Dual layer games play fine off the HD. [IMG]

Some people still want to buy there games legally.

I'd say: get a Nintendo disc cleaner, I can get those here for €5. So it would be round 7-10 dollar for you, I guess.

Its still loading from a DVD though, I installed most of my games to HD and i've noticed loading well faster than DVDs not to mention its quieter.

Could buy the the game if it doesnt work then usb load it.
