I firstly apologise if this is posted somewhere on the forum - I can't find it.

I am on official 4.3E and have the retail copy of Metroid: Other M. It plays fine if started via Gecko but via the disc channel it states there is a Wii System Update. Does anyone know what the Wii System update could be on this Disc when I am already on 4.3E?

Thanks in advance

I had no update message appear for my Galaxy 2... I can only assume that it is an IOS update or as you have said IOS stub.

I can't imagine it being anything else or HB killer or the like... Just wanted some confirmation so thought I would ask

It's time to start using Priiloader so you can automatically block disc updates and while your at it you may want to block online updates too!

Thanks for the advise - but each to their own. I have thought about it and just prefer not to. Some people like Holden and some like Ford but does not mean all Ford owners should become Holden owners just so they can see what is under the hood

I can already block updates. Mod Chip blocks updates if I turn the feature on but that is beside the point. I was just wanting to know what the update was.

Didn't 4.3 have a new IOS?

IOS 58 if remember correctly.
It sure does and i have that installed already. Before I updated to 4.3... However, it would have installed when I updated to 4.3 if it wasn't...

Leaves me wondering what this METROID update does....

Fair enough though I would use the analogy that you have either a Ford or Holden but don't want a HSV or FPV! Lol!

Personally, I would stay on 4.2, and update the IOS's with your favourite hamebrew app.

I will recomend (as will alot of people) DOP-Mii.

Also, if you havn't already, install Priiloader and block updates.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
