Metal Gear Solid Pachinko Is a Thing. For Real.
Think we might all need to take a fake-death pill for that one. What do you say?
I like how it's the end of the world when Konami releases a themed Pachinko, yet everyone's cool with Pokemon kitchenware, Super Mario Bros. ice cube trays and amiibo's. Gaming companies are only supposed to sell out in certain ways, it seems. I can see y'all slobbering at the thought of Nintendo cereal making a comeback. ;O;
Sure. Except literally stealing Tetris from its original creator, breaking a cooperation agreement with Sony *one* day before they were supposed to demo the SNES CD (with working prototypes complete and several games in development, most of which never saw the light of day as a result) and breaking a bunch of anti-trust regulations for which they were fined out the ass. Nintendo is just a jolly bunch, I mean, everyone loved Other M and Starfox Adventures. Hey, remember when they released the DSi and the N3DS? And then forgot to release games for them? Good times.It's probably because Nintendo haven't done anything to make people hate them e.g. Not preventing someone from getting an award and lying about it.
I think if Konami hadn't done these kinds of things and they were still making 'core' games then they wouldn't be p***ed of by these pachinko machines.
At the end of the day they are a business, for-profit company and not a benevolent one. Whatever keeps their boat floating works, as long as it's profitable. Apparently, it is pretty much lucrative in Japan.Oh holy fcking Jesus crist faknami, how low u can go?!
man, all gambling businesses are lucrative and profitable, and make people more and more and more addicted to it... so here we can finally say something like ''hi buddy, u got ur fcking life fcked by MGS!!!'' XDAt the end of the day they are a business, for-profit company and not a benevolent one. Whatever keeps their boat floating works, as long as it's profitable. Wasn't Terminator 2 like, the best pinball table of all time? That's a licensed machine too, and nobody complained.I wonder if people would have spazzed out this much if they announced an MGS-themed pinball table instead.

They're a business, just like any other. They have this veneer of a "magical toy shop" company, but at the end of the day they've got investors too and they can be just as litigous and money-grubbing as everybody else.1) AFAIK it was the Russians who stole Tetris, Nintendo licensed it from them.
2) From what ive seen those arent things which have made people HATE them, at least not like the Konami anger.
Out of those examples only the last few sentences have been things ive seen people give a **** about or were before the internet as we know it, which helped fan the anger towards Konami.
Could have chosen others such as their behaviour on Youtube, naff online system, dmca takedowns of fan games, ill treatment of franchises which arent mario or zelda, idiotic drm, lack of crossbuy, idiotic control schemes, calling hackers employers, etc.
Chances are Nintendo also has allot of goodwill thanks to nostalgia.
I think it has more to do with the fact that konami is replacing their games with the machines. It's not about creating spin-offs or milking with merchandise for bonus profit, it's more about killing the games themselves. The closest thing you've seen from Nintendo is that they ignored metroid for 10 years and then announced a minigame. Are you sure they didn't get hate for that? I seem to remember a 90% dislike bar, a lot of rage, and a PR disaster for their worst direct/E3 ever. They even released justifications/damage control for their decision later on, something I don't remember them ever doing.Sure. Thing is, I don't anthropomorphize corporations (unless it's for my defunct comic where I did just that) - I don't treat them as my buddies and I don't feel betrayed when they do something stupid. I don't delude myself into thinking that they're my friends like some people here do - they exist solely to create products that I might pay for. Their one and only purpose is to make money. If I support a product, I buy it. If I don't, I don't buy it. Can you blame Konami for making pachinko machines if people are willing to pay money to play them? Who's at fault here - Konami, the corporation that does whatever it needs to do to make a profit, or the gamers who get suckered into playing this crap? If you want to blame someone, blame pachinko players - they're at fault here. Vote with your wallet, people.I think it has more to do with the fact that konami is replacing their games with the machines. They also happen to be even more retarded about youtube copyright claiming than nintendo is (yes, that's apparently physically possible), and I'm sure you heard all about the interviews of their workers. Oh, also their personal and public crusade against Kojima was probably not the best thing to do as, as you say, a for-profit a company.
Trick question. I'll still blame konami because they became unable to make money with videogames, so they were forced to look into other things in the first place. Not because the audience or taste changed, but because they actively ruined their own franchises in every possible way. They even had one game that didn't get shipped on its first week without any info, to the point where the director apologized on his personal twitter not knowing what the fuck was going on. They changed the font of signs in that shitty SH2 "remaster" to comic sans. This is some comedy shit, come on.Can you blame Konami for making pachinko machines if people are willing to pay money to play them?
