Seriously, in 80's-90's, with the famous NES
We Quebecois, who speak french, were stuck with english games
Seriously, games weren't translated in Quebec back then
Plus, I guess it was hard to translate them anyway
You know... I am Error... xD
But yea, for example, when I was playing Nightshade on NES
I always had to call my mom to translate me every lanes of text xD

Also, when we played Pokemon games, we had english names
That's why we had a Quebecois version of the anime back then
It was purely french except for pokemon/characters names, that were the english ones

In all honnesty, since DS games, games are now translated in french in Quebec
But I'd have prefered Pokemon games to be translated in quebecois, not in french :(

Even though, now, I still play all my games in english :)
Seriously, english is better than french in video games :P

But yea, as I said, you guys from 2000's never had to struggle with video games like we had to
we X and Y (and I'm not talkign about Pokemon game here lol)

Maybe you should just get with the times and learn English. The whole "the language is our culture" thing is nonsense really.
lol, actually, I eventualy learned english, dont worry
But hey, French do is part of our culture in Quebec

Fun fact: being limited to the English language was the gateway to learn English better than schools could ever teach.
While I did want to get my games in French, relying on translation patches, I didn't really mind.

well, thats how I learned english, through video games :)
like kids today learn english with Netflix and such
But yea, Quebecois gamer of 80's-90's learned english 95% through video games

That.....is interesting...I guess after French, Haitian-French, Quebecois, and any other kind of French that I am unfamiliar with, I'll make Frenglish to cry myself to sleep while I ask for 20 cheese omelette's or attempt this:

How long did it take to learn English to a conversational level?

Being Multilingual is cool. Was there on an off days or was it constant hours of practice?
Err I dunno really. I've personally learned myself, so it's on and off at any moment.

The 4 languages for me are English, Spanish, Japanese and Korean.

That's a lot of languages. Do you get confused and mix words from one language with another?

first of all: wooosh
second: Not really. But sometimes I might think of an english word (or read/hear it) I might know exactly what it "means", but I might not know a litteral translation into german.

As for latin: the only real purpose I ever have for latin is recognizing foreign words and - to a small extend - maybe even some simple sentences in languages that borrow from it.

Ya, I thought so. I was about to ask how are you good at French, Greek, and Spanish if you don't speak them.
I thought you were one of those I can understand it but not speak it person. They just go blank when trying to speak.
