"7) "Memorex sucks." This is the technical explanation preferred the by "experts" here. It may work after a recording, but it will fail later. That subsequent failure may also be do to a poor recording associated with mismatched firmware settings, but that is two steps to think about. It's so much easier to blame the disc. "

But, people do object to you saying things, and sticking up for Memorex media etc when, as JVC said,
"We are trying to save the person a big headache, down the road."
Do you want to see people having to come bac and say...
"Why won't my disks play anymore JoeRyan, I thought you said they were good?" "
QUOTE
i save all the Memorex fanboy links as they're almost fanatical. The thing is, we users of top notch (and no more expensive than the 'questionable' stuff) only push it because it works (for us and the majority of people), not for any other reason. If 'questionable' media was good enough for the majority we'd push that too. Any posters that post that they get good results from Memorex/HP/TDK/Imation etc, i ask them to realise that those companies don't make their own discs.

Summary: If you want discs that work now, they're probably fine. If you want them to work a year from now, you might want to return them ;-).

i have some experience with memorex and they suck
I bought a spindle about 6 months ago for ps2 backups, they worked for 2-3 days then just died on me. They may have improved after switching to the RITEK dye, but to be on the safe side i always use verbatims

Does anyone know if using rewritable media (DVD+RW) for Wii games is safe? Like, will the games last for a shorter period of time? Will the games play just as good? Anyone had good luck/bad luck with rewritables?

I just started using Memorex DVD-R's and they're working fine. Better than the Staples DVD-R's I had before.

I've never heard of burned DVD's working less effectively over time... is that really true?

Ya the memorex discs work fine now. They switched dyes at the begining of 2006 to a RITEK dye which is like 100X better then their old crappy dye. Not a Memorex fan or anything but u get the best cheap deal from theses discs. As long as your disc says Memorex 2006 your fine because it's the new dye but if it says something else like 2005 return right alway because the old discs were CRAP and would break in days!

wouldnt you think its safe to assume if your buying the discsi n 2007 that they were produced sometime in 2006? 2005 was al ong time ago..

I'm using memorex dvd-r's and have had no problems at all. Then again I've always used cheap media for just about everything and have yet to run into a problem. I never really cared much for which is better, just so long as they work.

I heard the same stories about media for DC games also. I used no-name white CD's way back then and they still work today.
