well today i tried to download a rom from MegaUpload . but when i clicked the link it said " the link was removed or deleted " . while when go to RapidShare it says something similar to that ?

does that mean they both stopped hosting illegal roms ?

They never hosted "illegal roms." They hosted files. If the file is illegal, it is removed. Now, they're checking harder for roms... but its not like they allowed them in the past. The roms just slipped under their collective radar.

Rapidshare have a blacklist of file names I believe so if the files were uploaded without changing their name (i.e. cvn-twlkt.rar) that would get the files removed from RS.

Rapidshare and megaupload basically make their money from having illegal files on, they don't actively pursue illegal files unless a copyright holder complains.

I agree with Twiffles 100%, FileFactory is amazing. It always hosts ROMs, and I've never gotten a "download limit exceeded".

Also, I did notice that about MU, but only when I tried to download FFTA2.

Megaupload and Rapidshare have always tried to get rid of illegal backups, but there are still so many backups uploaded on their servers. If you're a member your files will almost never get deleted, they never even get checked.

I like Megaupload the best because it supports files larger than 100MB

I think filefactory actually removed TWEWY, I'll check now.

edit:It's been removed on MU and RS, still up on filefactory though.

Illegal stuff is what keeps (most of) these hosting websites running.

I definately need to change then. I've been using Rapidshare sometimes, but the fact that some files aren't available after some days and the 100 MB limit are really annoying.

Rapidshare has a lot more files than the rest. But I am limited 120 KB/s with both Rapidshare and FileFactory.
    With Megaupload I can get 500 to 600 KB/s.

I love megaupload and filefactory. Especially megaupload happy hours with the MU toolbar. Unlimited download with download accelerators and resuming downloads is awesome. Too bad a lot of the websites I visit for downloads don't use filefactory much though. :\

I love RS because I share an account with 5 other friends. We got it by trading our school XP cd key for the account. One problem though is that the account's about to expire and we'll need to pool in some cash for a year account...

How many people here use filehosters to get their roms? All my GBA roms are taken from sites which have their own servers like some Chinese sites and some English sites.
