Capcom officially announced the game in Japan as Rockman X Anniversary Collection 1 + 2 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam.
It comes with 2 different collections: First collection is X1-X4, second collection is X5-X8.

Also introducing: “X Challenge” mode! a new mode where you’ll fight a mix of boss characters from 8 titles from the Mega Man X series, and they’ll be tag-teaming against you in this new mode.
In addition to improved graphics, it’ll also have a filter option for it as well.

There’s also a “Museum Mode” that comes with the “The Day of Sigma” anime, the same title of the 25-minute long OVA included in Mega Man Maverick Hunter X on PSP. It'll also include a gallery full of concept art and official released art, a music player, PV Theater(with commericals and trailers from both japan and the west), all from the entire Mega Man X series!

It's only announced in japan for now, but it might get a western reveal pretty soon.

i would have thought they split the collection because they're moneyhungry beasts, but then again, they made a good and a moderate to terrible collection so i really dont get it ... might as well put it all in one package

THE 1ST GC/ps2 collection was better, it included x1-6, for me 3D megaman x like X7-8 has no reason to exist

I can already tell 1 is gonna sell better than 2. Shame, because X8 is easily on the top 3 of the best X titles.

    LOL

No one is going to buy the Mega Man X Collection 2. X5 is fine, but there is a huge RNG issue with the destruction of the space colony, as well as "killing" Zero... So it is plagued with the curse of even if you get all the extra pieces of the weapon, you can still get the bad ending, WTF. X6 is in contention for being one of the worst designed Mega Man games of all time, and guess what! X7 is even worst than that! X8 is fine, they finally went back to 2D or whatever that 2.5D term all the cool kids are using. But the story sucks and peeple had already moved on. Growing out of the X series entirely or playing different genre games.

Cappy should have put them all on one disk or file, charged what they are charging for the two disks together and forced people to buy all 8 at once.

Honestly I love every game in the series(my least favorite is X7 while my most favorite is X5), so it's a nice treat for me as a long-time MMX fan.
And I do approve the filter on/off option! I would totally put it off when I play the SNES titles, and put it on when I play the PS1 titles.
Also that X Challenge mode...oh man, this is truly fan service for the fans. never thought i'll have an opportunity to fight both Chill Penguin AND Frost Walrus AT THE SAME TIME!
Out of curiosity, does the filter usually use a specific texture shader like Scale2x or xBRZ 2x?

Here's Mega Man Legacy Collection done right, it'll be available widely at this summer. From Capcom itself I hope to see new titles like Monster Hunter World, not going to support milking.

    Disappointing....AGAIN! :nayps3:

Stop, okay? CAPCOM... STOP! Why did you do this again? Is there any reason why you would have to split anything? Everyone knows full well you can fit all the data into one game, why did you split the collection into two, and you did it twice for two mega man series!

What's next, mega man battle network collection 1, 2, 3? Gonna have
    • 1+2 in the first one
    • 3+4+5+6 Side A (White, blue, protoman, gyger)
    • 3+4+5+6 Side B (Black, Red, Colonel, Felzar)
    :wtf:

Oh, I misunderstood. Idk it was separated. I never consistently played the Megaman X games, so I thought I may buy this.

Ok. I just found out, 20-something years later, that mega man x has 2 special boss animations that have to do with the boomerang cutter. You can cut off the flame mammoth's trunk and launch octopus's arms. ??? Does anyone else know of any more secret boss attacks like that in any of the mmx games?

Sonic Slicer and Wire Sponge comes to mind. Also related is in MMX3, Bit, Byte, and Vile can all be killed with a special weapon which can change what bosses you get later in the game. Oh, and I'm sure you're aware of Electric Spark with Armored Armadillo.

Yeah, I know about those, but they are the intended weapons for those bosses. I'm talking about something out of character like boomerang and elephant where storm tornado is the intended weapon. A completely unrelated weapon with a neat effect like cutting off the trunk or arms

Probably solid state costs for the cartridges; 1GB vs 8GB on a proprietary memory device requires money for this IP Capcom is not willing to spend on. Maybe given the later games' original sales numbers, they couldn't justify it.

On second thought, they did this for Bayonetta and Resident Evil too. They're just cheap.

hmm...I'll still buy it on the switch, and I probably wouldn't sell it since mega man is one of my favorite series. I actually like mega man x more than the original mega man.

btw, do either have remixed songs like anniversary collection on the ps2? I ripped mega man legacy collection for the ps4 (never played it since I don't play my ps4), and it was only 500MBs or so. speaking of which, I won't buy it for the ps4 due to it requiring higher firmware. and, if it's on the xbone - I don't own the system. ;)
