I have recently tried Media Player CE 0.3 and loved it. However 4.0 and 5.0 both hang at a loading screen and never get to the Media Player CE main screen. It hangs on loading and after leaving it on overnight... it still had not loaded. Therefore, I assume it must be a bug. There are no strange usb devices plugged in at all and my system is a 3.2E

Help. Please. Thanks.

no, no bug at all.
no reason why it's hanging, have you tried re downloading from google code? also have you installed the ciosusb2 or dvdx?
reformat sd or try another.

No bug . player checks smb on startup since 0.4 .you have to remove smb.conf if you dont use network . If you use it you have to edit smb.conf to work with your local net .

Tried downloading a fresh copy. Installed both ciosusb2 and dvdx. The SD card can run all other home brew apps so far. Does Mplayer CE need a specific directory name under /apps? I have it named "mplayer_ce" which is what it comes as in the .rar archive. I've also tried Mplayer_ce to no avail.

Edit:

Will try the above.

what ios did you use install dvdx with? ios202, ios222, ios 254, or ios249?

Some versions cause MPlayer CE to code dump and crash.

Not sure, All I remember is 0.3a worked with it.

Edit:

Removed smb.conf and it still did the same.
Now Mplayer appears to be loading... then kicks me out and back onto the homebrew channel.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
