This week's hardware sales
MediaCreatePieChart.php

Week 21 of the Japan top 20 software chart is a bit more exciting, with 9 new releases - but some are just different SKUs of the same titles.
Surprisng literally no-one, Dark Souls Remastered debuts straight into the number 1 spot, just breaking 70k units. Detroit: Become Human takes 2nd place with 40k units sold and Mega Man Legacy Collection charts at #9 for Switch, but only manages to move 8k in its debut week.
Interestingly, last weeks number 1, The Caligula Effect has dropped down the entire table, a cool 19 places to the #20 spot.

Hardware continues to hold stable across the board, with a teeny spike for the Nintendo Switch.

Switch still holds the majority
The switch is fairly new console and is competing against 4-7year old consoles. So it is expected since people are getting a switch.

Persona: Dancing..Sometimes I dislike Japan.
Its a persona game after all (they said). I sometimes doubt human race. :rofl2:

THIS. This is actually what almost all switch fanboys cant get.

Sure, the switch is destroying the ps4 in japan since it is selling so much more that the ps4 in its launch date, but god, people tends to forget about the massive popularity of ps4 in the rest of the world and how the switch, as a brand new console, is competing with a console from 2013, which obvious competitor at the time was the wii u and we all know how the wii u ended...

Sure the switch is successful in its own way, but The real question is how long the switch will hold up when it hit the middle age of consoles, what will be the peak sales and what will they offer? The PS4 openly admitted they reached the peak sales for hardware (point where majority of the population got a console) and they can still see this much good of a performance whenever they release a game.

The people quickly grabbed the switch in the promise that they will get a handheld device with a home console like experience. Nintendo is failing to show us the latter part and cant really compete much with ps4 and xbox with the multiplatform releases. All we see is a bunch of indies and a few ports like doom or wolfenstein and people are like "whoah! Portable Doom In the switch". Apart feom that, no multiplatform games for the switch. This is the reason why nintendo is so head over heels in releasing a pokemon game because it is the only game that can pull up their sales significantly this financial year.

Nintendo is selling a lot due to its uniqueness and exclusivity. Not because of its competence. It is the only one in the market (only handheld), with a dozen of exclusive games and home for indie devs, hence the demand. It is too early to say that it will get a WII sales. The wii is built in a wide demographics and audience and im carefully observing where the switch will go. Im not against the switch and i love mine but i just dont like the over exaggeration of the switch. The real comparison is the lifetime sales trend.

You couldnt said it better. I do also quite like the switch and i'm planning on getting one at some point, but as you said, people really over exaggerate about it...
