Homebrew May I distribute Hans patches?

Title says it all. I'm aware that cias/roms/isos and whatnot cannot be posted and distributed here. But I'm unsure of whether I'd be allowed to distribute a hans patch here or anywhere else legally. Any input/help would be appreciated.

I too would like to know this. I'm assuming it's illegal to do because the romfs would contain the games assets, which belong to the developer (accidentally wrote Game Freak because I've seen so many Pokémon rom hacks).

the whole romfs contains the game as well, so I don't think you can

That's why I had been curious, since I knew that the copyrighted contents of the game are located in the romfs. But wasn't sure if editing/repacking it as a hans patch would permit its distribution. Thank you for the answers.

Couldn't we just create ips patches of romfs files for distribution?

Distributing a diff file for patching the clean RomFS should be okay as you can't reconstruct any copyrighted data from the file alone, providing the full RomFS or individual files inside is not allowed here.
