I'm at 4018 and still going. I've included a picture. Has anyone hit the max, or know what it is?

Also, I'm about to go time it, to see which is faster: shooting that thing on the ocean, or cutting the grass at the great fairy fountain island.

I've been doing the grass cutting just because I can mindlessly do it without paying too much attention. But I do actually think the other method might be quicker.

    Follow up:

I did 5 minute tests at each place twice.
    Great Fairy Island:
    1. 303
    2. 329

    Ocean... things
    1. 290
    2. 306

So they're about the same, the difficulty level of cutting grass is far below trying to keep those things afloat with your cannon.

I'm currently at 5,870 rupees. Maybe 9,999 is max?

Here is an image of the island. I'm fairly certain it's a great fairy fountain.. She hasn't come out when i try to give her my din's sphere. It says something with a 3, and that's how many I have.. And then the next box has a 7 in it.. So I think I need 7 before she'll appear. No idea, can't read japanese [IMG]

yes once you have ten of whatever, she'll give you a power up to the faries, allowing you to use them, the power one is a fire type element

It isn't a great fairy fountain.
When you have 10 of the Din Orb things, you can upgrade the red fairy and equip it. Your sword will then have flames all around it.
Likewise you can do it with the other two orbs and the other two fairies.
I've only got 8 of the other types though.

Ahhh, I went back there when I had 10 din orbs, and got the upgrade, but I wasn't sure how to use it. Thanks mate.

Also, I decided to stop hunting for rupees and progress further into the game last night at 7,000. I spent a bit of my rupees buying a heart from the golden beedles shop for 1,500, so I have a bit to make up for too. Kind of lame there isn't heart pieces in this game, only full heart containers.

I'll work on more rupee hunting and see if I can hit a maximum today.

Whats the best place to go to get a lot of rupees fast? I usually go to the Desert Island with the Wind temple, because when you kill some enemies, they drop red rupees.

Depends on how far you are into the game. If you're near end-game pyramid island is awesome, because 20 feet south of the northeasten pyramid is two red rupees that you can get over and over.

Other than that I used this island and whacked up all the grass over and over to get my money early in the game.

Is that island any good for ruby collecting?
I think they usually only have the blue ones, which are x5 rupees.

I use the flying squid thing most of the time, I can get several hundred pretty fast, just keep on shooting them.

and that mining island is a ripoff. I've never gained rupees after going in. Only nice thing was that i got a treasure map there.
