Hey guys! I know this has probably been answered, but it's hard to sort through past vs present info because I think the answer has changed over time due to updates to the game.

We had a MCC party a few years back and had to use Live, no way to do free local LAN games.

That's no longer the case? Yes or no? Is there a limit to number of xboxs before we have to use the internet instead?

Is it easy to setup now?

well, I did find out the answer, so just in case anyone needs to go looking and finds this thread, yes, without LIVE/game pass, you can now do MCC LAN games after some update in the past 3 years or so
there's a pretty easy to find toggle in the MCC menus that sets the network to either xbox live or LAN, and all you have to do is toggle that to LAN on all the systems connected to your network! be well, all.

    One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

    I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

    It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff

    Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
