Not sure what the haters were expecting, this is exactly how I remember the M&L games. There's a lot of exposition and humor through text and slapstick jokes. It's also beautiful on the OLED screen, it is like a living cartoon.

Honestly I think it's a solid M&L, even if with some small premises (I have about 10 hours so far, as I go on I admit it gets more and more interesting). Spoilers ahead
The most serious premise is that I feel it is more of a MARIO and luigi (as if the latter was a secondary character in short), while in the previous ones I always had the feeling of playing both (this for various reasons, first of all you are not free to use one of the two during exploration as in the old chapters)
The humor and dialogues are not up to par with the previous ones, unfortunately it must be admitted, but it is still enjoyable.
For the rest, everything is really top notch: the exploration, the combat, the new gameplay aspects, the cutscenes, the music, the return of "old" characters and some references to old chapters, the characters and the storytelling, really make me wish for a remake of the old ones with all these aspects.
The start is slow and it's easy to create negative prejudices, unfortunately the game gets going after 4-5 hour where it gets very interesting
Honestly, this is an excellent starting point for future M&L titles, I just hope they fix the premises I wrote about before

weird some sites said that 1.0.2 requires 19. Oh well Ams works on 19.0.1 anyways.
have no sense because EoW 1.0.2 was released BEFORE Firmware 19. you are right Update 1.0.2 requires FW 19 but oddly runs on FW18.1.0 if installed with a installer which modify the needed firmware version.

Surprised there’s no day one patch for this. It needs it. Sounds like due to the low firmware 12.0 requirement this game was done years ago and they’ve just been sitting on it. Likely won’t fix it, they’re done with it.

If any new patch come out for Mario and Luigi Brothership. Someone who are very smart can do something to edit deep inside patch to remove 19.0.0 firmware or above required to make work on both Nintendo Switch emulator and modded Nintendo Switch to running on old firmware like 18.1.0 or less.

Find any islets yet? You can check those out with a trip in the big cannon.
Have you revisited any of the islands you already linked? There might be new stuff to see and do there!
If an enemy sneak attacks you from behind, you'll start the battle in an exposed position. Try not to do that.
If either bro. gets KO'd in battle, be sure to use an item and get him back up ASAP!
If Luigi gets one of his ideas in a battle, it's usually a chance to deal some big damage.
If you can get a good rhythm going with the Zapperator, you can make a real big cloud.
If you can't dodge, use an Emergency Guard. It'll at least reduce the damage taken.
If you combine your Battle Plugs right, you can make battles waaay easier.
If you don't know where to go, head toward the red mark on the map. Always trust a red mark.
If you ever forget the controls, just open up Settings & Guide, then .
If you go fishing from Shipshape, you might catch something other than fish!
If you see a ? Block, punch that sucker! There'll be coins or items in there.

If you're worried about how your gear and level stack up, talk to the advisor trio on Shipshape.
If your Bros. Attacks need work, watch the demo and practice.
Look, a battle just goes better if you remember to set your Battle Plugs beforehand.
Look, sometimes surviving is winning. Don't forget that you can run away from a battle with the Flee command.
Sneak attack an enemy while they're still moving around, and you'll get a first strike when the battle starts.
So it turns out that there are talking turnips. Who knew? Maybe they know something useful?
So it turns out that there are talking turnips. Who knew? Maybe they know something useful? UWS
Some enemies are real poke-y, and it hurts to stomp ‘em. That's when you bring down the hammer!
Some gear'll give you special effects. If you get one, pay attention and try to use it well.
Some side quests have a time limit. Might want to put a rush on those, you know?
Stuck? Can't go forward? Try using a Bros. Move.
The materials enemies drop are the ingredients to make new gear.
The person who takes care of the Uni-Tree is called a Wattanist. Fancy!
Those sparkles you see around are Sprite Bulb nests. If you see one, pull it out and catch all the Sprite Bulbs!
Timing is super important for Hatch Me if You Can. Don't let that egg outta your sight!
Watch for the enemies that shoot projectiles! You get hit with one of those, and you'll have to fight them.
Watch out when the enemy is guarding—you might take some damage when you jump on ‘em.
Watch your HP and BP gauges! Try to keep some recovery items on hand in case they get low.
Watch your rhythm when you're kicking those Red Shells. As you get closer to enemies, it'll change.
When a lighthouse's Connectar Flower blooms, sometimes a new path shows up!
When the bad guys are flying, you gotta jump on ‘em. You can't reach that high with your hammer.
When the game's autosaving, there'll be a little twirly thing in the upper right.
When you get materials from enemies, bring ‘em to the workshop and see if you can make new gear.
When you see weird-shaped reefs out at sea, let Issa Rock know. She's really into those.
With the Green Shell, watch the bouncing shell real close and kick it with the right timing.
You can break wooden boxes with a hammer. And if you CAN smash it, you probably SHOULD smash it, en?
You can buy items and gear at the shops. If you see a new shop, be sure to check it out.
You can equip gloves to power up the bros. There are lots to choose from, so pick the ones you like.
You can equip one each of gloves and accessories, so choose wisely.
You can tell if it's Mario or Luigi getting attacked by watching the bad guy's movements real carefully.
You can use Beans to permanently increase Mario or Luigi's stats. Cool, eh?
You can't set a Battle Plug that's recharging. Keep fighting and wait until it's recharged.
You ever want to look at the whole area map? If so, tilt @ on the Main Menu!

Looks like I and a lot of us were right. This game was done years ago and still no patch, probably never will be. I’ve finished it now anyway way. 7/10 I’d say, just far far too long. Took me 60 hours and I ignored all side quests after the 25 hour mark.
