In another attempt to blame video games for all of the violence in the UK, nothing to do with upbringing and just plain crazy of course, Manhunt 2 has been banned from being sold on any system anywhere in the UK.

Article Here:

Manhunt 2 Banned Article

Pathetic!

Lets hope the USA release works on PAL!

Noone was killed "due to the first one". Some fuckhead murderer played a game, and becouse he already was a fuckhead he desided to murder someone.

Simple.

Games don't kill, fuckheads do.

I have never played the first one but things like this (censorship on this level) sicken me. I am just glad I move in these sorts of circles so it means little to me in terms of being able to play it should I want to.

Also what NossCire said although perhaps phrased more eloquently.

Didn't this happen with the first game in the UK? I agree with aligborat69, its more of an issue with someone's upbringing/mental health than video games.

Out of the millions who play violent video games, when 1 or 2 weirdos go on a killing rampage the first thing everyone blames are the video games, what about the millions of people who are perfectly normal?

Also, I believe it was a 14 Year old who was killed in Manchester by his friend or something. Which brings me to my second point, this game had an Adults Only frickin rating, stupid parents should let their kids have it in the first place then.

On another note, is this game actually any good? I get the idea most people go on about this game because 1. Its a rockstar game, 2. It's always so hyped up in the media.

From what I saw in the first game, its basically killing people in heaps of different ways, so I'm guessing the 2nd game will be more of the same + better graphics and more ways to kill people with a equally as involving and twisted plot

I just thought it was a funny article. How a video game can be blamed for murders is incredible. I was brought up watching cartoons which by todays standards are too violent, yet i have never picked up a knife, sword, gun or anything to hurt anyone. If a person is crazy in the first place, whether they play a violent game or watch a violent movie, they are going to do these things anyway!

The old term scapegoat comes to mind....

I agree with jumpman this game does go too far. Games like the suffering are also bad, but use creatures. On manhunt its really people your killing in loads of sick ways. I do think we should be given the choice. I blame the parents for letting kids play these type of games. If they didn't it would be released in this country. Lets just hope if can be patched for USA. Either that or the french or german versions are easy to understand.

that sucks.. it better come to Oz.

If I remember rightly the first was refused release in Oz, along with a load of other Rockstar games.

Didn't this happen with the first game in the UK?

Also, I believe it was a 14 Year old who was killed in Manchester by his friend or something.

It was never officially banned.
After this incident Manhunt was withdrawn from sale by most stores but returned to most of them soon after, only a few refused the sell it like Dixons.
But in the end it was the victim not the killer that had Manhunt.

The moral of this story is "owning violent videogames is more likely to get you murdered".

I wonder what they will do in Germany... Will Rockstar even try to get it past the USK and BPjM?
Not selling Manhunt 2 to children makes sense. But banning it for adults can not be justified. If you find the violence in this game too offensive, simply don't play it! That's what I do.

All this will do at the end of the day is inflate the prices of the games on ebay. Will the French and German versions of the game work on unmodded PAL consoles?

IIRC Manhunt was never officially released in Germany and --honestly-- I doubt that Manhunt 2 will. It's just too much of a hassle to get past the authorities just to get it banned afterwards. But I may be wrong on that.

edit: Sorry, the first part was released but was on the index and afterwards it has been banned.

We might aswell ban alcohol while we at it
huh.gif
People under the age of 18 get a hold of alcohol all the time so does that mean they are going to ban it. I feel its against peoples rights to ban stuff like this. What gives a bunch of guys sitting in a office to say what everyone should be able to play
