Hi, since I have the original cartridge I would like to sell my SD card with the game that came with my N3DS XL MM Edition on an 4GB card (unused). Is that possible technically?

No. You'd have to sell the console along with your NNID (if there is one linked) and the game on it, since the game is locked to that console/account unless you perform a full system transfer.

I have no NNID on that console. Is the game already tied to it, although I didn't create an account?

If you want to get some money back, you'll have to sell the cartridge. The game's tied to your console like the fine people above have said.

you can't sell the sd card with the game on it, it's LINKED TO YOUR CONSOLE. putting the sd card on another console will not show the game...
if your sd card worked on another console, you could just make a copy and distribute to everyone you know.. the sd card is a totally normal card you find on stores...

also selling the digital version is useless, specially when that game is being distributed as a legit cia, technically i now own the game..

just because you can play the game without hax, that doesn't mean you own it, technically or not

i know, by morals laws and nintendo not getting the money, i don't really own it..
but i mean, i can download it from eshop, i can transfer my account to another console and i will still have the game and being able to download it (AFAIK)..
in a way or another my account now has the game on the list..

anyway, i love this game and i will plan to get the cartridge version later...

even if you did buy it, according to nintendo (and maybe your country) you don't own it anyway, just renting it/license to play it.

and no, if you system transfer, the game won't be moved over, because it's not on your 'eshop account record' on nintendo's server. the transfer doesn't check the stuff installed on your 3ds, it checks what you own on the server.

because i am now confused why i can delete a legit cia and download it later again directly from eshop, but non-legit cias throw me an error and can't be redownloaded..

If it's installed on the system officially, it'll transfer. I've got the system and I've done a few transfers out of boredom.

that would transfer... because that 3ds has the game according to nintendo + their servers.
if you install a legit cia, this is not the case
you can redownload the game via eshop on the same 3ds if the game is legit/not legit/pirated or not, because you have the ticket installed

You can but the download will block itself right at the end and the game won't be installed.

that is only if the ticket is not a good one and doesn't have the correct title key.
if the title key is correct, it will install fine, legit ticket or not
