This thread is for posting online availability info about the new 3ds. It was briefly available at Target less than an hour ago, and is currently available in a few Gamestops (in-store only) across the country. I will update this thread frequently with whatever's posted, so anyone looking to buy a majora's mask 3ds xl can avoid those annoying scalpers.

Current availability:

Gamestop: Check the website for stores near you. Still available in some places.

Target: Was available at 11 AM EST, sold out for now. Keep checking.

Gamestop's seemed to get only what was pre-sold shipped to their stores. Most open at midnight and have sold out of ALL versions(YMMV).
Many Targets got 4-5 zelda and same with Red consoles but received more Black units but if you weren't camped out overnight then good luck.
Fry's made the Red and Black units available to hold for store pickup early am so that was nice of them(no waiting in lines).
They even briefly had Zelda Limited edition with action fiqure for a short time but cancelled some orders so that may have been an error.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
