tbh i think majora's mask had a bit of a bad reception in it time because
    A) it needed the expansion pak
    B) it wasnt exactly oot 2
i know myself as a kid it was a bit crappy that it needed the expansion pak so i just decided i didn't like it, as i didn't think it was fair you had to buy the game and the expansion pak just to play it, when i finnaly did pick it up, some of those negative feelings just stuck for a while and i found myself not enjoying it.....but after a while it turns out it was a great game, just my childish "i hate it cuz i cant have it" kinda ruined it initally

still i would prefer a new game more than a remake, but its inevitable that companies will start milking old games every now and then....so if its going to happen i would prefer its done as well as it can be....ps i know it wouldn't be as good as that fan made video......but lets just say that video would make nintendo want to try harder to impress......i don't think they would like people saying "why iz random people make betta zelda than you".......i really would like to see it done on the wii u, i dont think oot and majoras mask are really "portable" games, i think they are better suited for a home console

A DS-style Final Fantasy V 3D remake was announced for smartphones in Japan (dunno if they ever released it?), but they said they were considering one for VI for handhelds back in 2010...

actually, oot is pretty fitting for a portable game, you can save anywhere, resume game from start of a dungeon, dungeons are pretty short.
mm on the other hand isn't as portable. while many missions and side quests can be done in a bunch of minutes, many things take time. specially chain quests like kafei or upgrading your sword, or finding all the fairies in a temple can take their time. thats really not suited for a portable. though many portable games have long since given up on those things so whatever

personally, I wouldn't want it remade either. however, what i would like would be a return of mayoras mask.
new places, new temples, new masks and powers. and new people of course. maybe change the time travel thing up a bit.

Not going to happen. Am I the only one who didn't like the new Zelda graphics, looks a lot like Skyward Sword. I am sure the game will be amazing but I really prefer the graphic style of Twilight Princess. I would really like one like the Zelda tech demo that they showed off 3 years ago for WiiU.

Because most HD ports take a ps2 game and give it higher resolution and widescreen while keeping the graphics and experience the same. Also 3D portable remake >> HD remake imo.

Ocarina of Time was a $40 "remake" that didn't change anything except update the graphics. No gameplay was changed, despite being incredibly dated, the graphics didn't even look like they were remade from the ground up, it looked just as lazy as a HD port.

I bought God of War Collection for $40. It had 5 complete games in it, all with slightly updated graphics.

I mean they made you pay $60 for Wind Waker HD and that was a single game that was HD ported. For that much money I can buy two HD collections with at least 6+ games in them. Hell, I can buy current collections of recent games for $30. inFamous Collection is like $30, Uncharted Collection is $30, Resistance and Killzone Collections are $30.

But you can keep justifying Nintendo's ripping you off because "it's Nintendo", I hope you enjoy paying for shit ports at twice the price they should be.

That's just not true. Not even a little Just the streamlining of the way boots worked made areas that relied on them a lot less frustrating and annoying, and that was far from the only change.

It's gone from looking like ass to not looking like ass.

None of which says MM 3DS wouldn't need much more substantial changes. In particular, as mentioned above, the save system would be absolutely all wrong for a portable game.

    "That's just not true."

    "B-boots are more streamlined now!"

Really? That's the best you had? I think you just proved my point.

The levels are the same. The combat is the same. The items are the same. The bosses are the same. There's no new bonus content (Master Quest was already made), no additional areas, nothing. It's the same game, same combat, same mechanics, just with a fancy coat of paint and some "streamlined" controls. It's basically either a port or an awful remake. Choose one.

or a good remake....remakes just aren't for some people, they obviously don't work well for you, but some people like to replay a game with better graphics......i mean look at the texture repacks for N64 games....yes its the same game....yes its the same mechanics but if a game worked well why not just make it look prettier and leave the core system alone.....yeah some new bonus features are cool sometimes, but i dont think remakes are as bad as you make out, nobody is forcing anyone to re-buy the game if you are happy playing it on the N64.....but this atleast lets old fans who want to see it improved....or even people who missed it a chance to play it without being distracted by the somewhat dated graphical capabilities

oh and there was few little differences, like the boss battle repeat feature....yeah not much in terms of new content.....but sometimes that's for the best

And my point isn't that remakes are necessary, it's why do people find paying $40 for a single, 15+ year old game with little to no improvements except graphics to be acceptable but shit on a $40 collections of 3-5 games with, again, little to no improvements except graphics?

Also this whole "No one is forcing you to buy it!" argument is overused and never valid. The point isn't being forced to buy, the point is thinking such a rip off is acceptable and letting the trend continue. You know people would gobble up a Majora's Mask port and praise Nintendo for "bringing such classics to the 3DS" and then turn around and shit on Sony for porting God of War to the PS3 even when it's a better deal.

EDIT: And the game worked well... 15 years ago. Now it's old, dated, and aged poorly. I'd commend Nintendo for remaking the game from the ground up, with new gameplay, new dungeons, new bosses, and new art, since it shows they have the balls to see the flaws in their "classics" and realize they can do better, but instead it's Final Fantasy VII syndrome again. Everyone thinks it's such a "classic" that their too afraid to do anything with the name except a mindless port of a 15 year old game with no updates for the modern age.

considering all the other games that didnt have TP dark and gritty graphics, chances are slim this style will ever return to us

but "No one is forcing you to buy it!" is the most relevant point there is.....nothing else applies, if people dont want to re-buy god of war thats their choice if people want to buy zelda 1 for the 3ds thats also their choice......maybe its nostalgia, maybe its just that people like giving nintendo money and hate sony no matter what they do, but bitching about it won't change it, some games just get lost in the haze of other similar "AAA" titles and maybe they are super fantastic amazing games but i think nintendo's audience is different than sony's audience and their audiences demand different things, what works for nintendo may not work for sony

I disagree with the never valid part. The only purpose of a game is enjoyment/entertainment. If an HD remake/port/or what ever people want to call it makes someone happy, what is the point in not making it if the company is willing to take the risks associated with bad sales? Ocarina of Time 3DS made me happy, what's the problem?

The problem is they could be dedicating resources to better projects and trying to, hell, do something new than stick to the same old IPs. But if people continue to buy it, they'll just continue this trend. They fleeced you with Ocarina of Time for $40, fleeced you again with Wind Waker HD for $60, and now people are still convinced that paying $40 for Majora's Mask again is okay, when that $40 could be spent on an original Zelda game or, hell, an original IP.
