My friend called me down cause her Macbook Pro contracted a virus. Im not sure what it is or what i did. I checked her downloads and found about 9 or 10 files titled "InstallAVg_77011802-(and then the numeric number of the files)" and it was an .exe file. I honestly was blindsided by the whole thing. Any ideas or help? i dont know whats going on.

I don't know what that is specifically, but I was just listening to the radio 5 mins ago, and the host mentioned that there is a Virus going around to mac users specifically, and to watch out. I am assuming he was referring to what you are. I am going to check my Macbook right away, and am kinda worried.

Its a trojan in iWork pirated copies, not a virus. Is it even a virus? What is it doing?
Its a trojan, which you can only get if you type an administrator pw and install it

I got The cs4 trial from adobes site when they had the glitch thing

I don't think that Apple should advertise that Macs are "Virus-free" or "Less likely to crash". Neither are true, and in my experience, Macs crash more often, but in more subtle ways.

From what I have heard macs aren't safe from viruses! Viruses in most cases just infect machines that's running windows, is that true? nothing's stopping people from making viruses for macs there's probably a few out there already, It's just not so popular.

And you need an admin password typed in at the time of the attack to cripple anything

I'm sure someone could make a trojan that gets root access discreetly. Macs don't have enough market share yet for serious profiting hackers/crackers to commit, though.

No I was reffering to the OP when I asked if it was a virus

So to clear things up...

OP: What is this "virus" doing?

Illinois is working to ban toxic food additives that have been banned for decades in other countries; additives that can be replaced and all those countries still have Skittles and Mountain Dew. Title of the piece: GUBMINT WANTS TO TAKE AWAY YOUR CANDY

@Veho, Sounds and smells like bullshit. They don't give you cancer, and California should know that. I don't get why they stick labels that say "may or may not cause reproductive harm or cancer".
