...You won't be banned for playing via USB. The only thing Ninty has ever banned for is cheating in MKWii.

Remember, this is the Wii we're talking about. It's nowhere near as sophisticated as the 360 and XBLA

I'm on 3.4 if I was to attempt to play online would they try to make me do an update? I don't want to update, I'm fine with just having 3.4.

If you're able to boot a game, it can't and won't prompt any updates beyond that.

Ahk, I seem to be able to boot every game I have although I never have Wi-Fi enabled when I play a game it was just a thought.

If they were to ban you, which they aren't unless you cheat---which is just lame---that wouldn't be based on the MAC address anyway. Since their server won't know your mac if you're behind NAT or the like that would just be a plain stupid way of identifying banned users. They probably block your Wii id, or the specific game id, or the like, which I assume get generated for your Wii at first connection to the game in question's servers.

Just don't cheat and you'll be fine ...

And also, the banned Mario Kart users can phone Nintendo and ask for forgiveness and sometime get unbanned, so it's not the end of the world.

Some routers support faking MAC adresses. You can switch between emulating a new one or using the one that came from the attached device(s).

A game cannot be patched, let alone be updated on the Wii. So your theory is flawed.

Bullshit, you won t be banned cause using backups. You will be banned only if you cheat.

My son plays online nearly everyday and never been banned.

Requirements: Gecko OS 1.80 or later. Not on USB loaders or Ocarina. (Why should you need to use a USB loader? After all, it is specifically a backup loader, which obviously means you have the original discs.)

The Wii, in the way it was designed, has no way to persistently patch games.
