Can the M3DS Real use Trimmed ROMS as is off the microSD?
the m3 real can use trimmed roms, yes. if that was your question
Any NDS Slot-1 card can, AFAIK.
Unless the flashcard you are using seems to desire the filesizes to completely match the rom sizes, e.g. 128Mbit, 512Mbit, etc or something crazy like that which I don't think any flashcard has.
Thanks guys... Downloaded Rominator and trimmed all my ROMS directly off the microSD... All seems fine... Just didn't want to Trim my ROMS to find them corrupt.
Sorry its a nooooooby question but what does trimming roms do? I can only guess that it make them a smaller size and therefore saves space. But how significant is the cut of the rom size?
If a rom was 10megabites and then you trimmed it, what would be the file size after you trimmed it?
NDS roms always have set sizes 32, 64, 128, 256MB
when a game is made that is in a size between 2 of those(example 89MB) it will be filled up with "empty" data
when a rom is trimmed a program tries to cut this empty data out.
this means, a game can be reduced in size by 1-45%
it all depends on the rom you trim.
still, beware as some games use exact locations of data, and trimmed roms have the data at a different location.
so the game can't find it's data.
Download Rominator V2008 and it will do the trimming for you and visually show you how much space will be saved for each ROM it can trim. I would suggest to be safe, to only trim a copy of your ROMS. IE: ROMS already copied to a FlashCart, hence leaving the original untouched on your PC.
