Anyway, I have finally received my M3 Simply, I got it at Realhotstuff (No its not a porn site... [IMG]) for around 50 dollars shipped. It came here in about roughly.... ehh.. lets say 4 hours, via DHL Ground Shipping to Dallas. (Yeah, friggin fast ain't it)

    Anyway, on to teh review!!

    Introduction

Welcome to KINGOFNOOBS' review to the M3 Simply. The M3 Simply is the slot one solution from M3, a company known for their for successful line of M3 Series, such as the M3 Perfect.

I would like to thank Realhotstuff for having great customer support and getting this thing to me very very fast. Even though I did have to buy it like a normal person unfortunately. Hehe

M3 Simply "Features" Will they hold up?
    • 2nd generation storage device (no booting tool required)
    • Flush fitting slot 1 card
    • Uses MicroSD card, FAT16 or 32
    • Supports Clean ROM, drag and drop. Works on any OS
    • Built in NoPass
    • Automatically detect save type
    • Save directly to MicroSD card, not to onboard chip
    • Supports Moonshell and other homebrew. Open I/O interface
    • User friendly skinnable interface. Touchscreen or button operation
    • Supports rumble pak and memory pak
    Packaging and Contents

Well even though I don't have my camera right now, I will still describe to you how it looks like and such.

First, when you get the package you will notice that it has a very interesting look to it. It has blue-yellow stripes on it on the sides and a logo saying "M3 Simply" in some weird techno font. The entire package is in package, this might be bad news from some thinking that you will have to get some sisizors and rip the thing open, but however, it seems the M3 Team has thought of this and just made it snapable, so you don't have to rip the thing apart, thats very nice. As I like to say.

Secondly, we go into the actual contents of the M3 Simply, as soon as you open the thing, you will notice that there is a microSD reading, direct microSD's are supported, so you can go ahead and throw away that SD Adapter (But really, don't, if you do.. its not my fault [IMG] ) The MicroSD adapter is in a cool blue color, which fits the packaging color very nicely, secondly there is a case for the white shell thats included (M3 Simply starts off being black) and obviously there is the M3 Simply it self.. obviously I will be covering more on that a bit later, Or will I, I guess you will just have to keep on reading to find out the turnout of this M3 Simply Drama!
Pictures will be coming soon when I get my darn camera working, ehh

M3 Simply and R4? Whats the deal?

It seems that people have noticed that the M3 Simply and the R4 are essentially the same, I can confirm that yes, they are the same exact thing. But now your thinking, whats the point of getting a M3 Simply if you can get a R4 if its cheaper and the same thing? Some argue that the M3 Simply team will have better support for the M3 Simply then the R4 team. Which... is possible, but unproven.

Ok, how simple is the M3 SIMPLY?!!

If you just want one word for this question, the answer is, very simple. All you do is just drag the files on the included CD, to your microSD via the included microSD adapter (Jeez can't we buy our own stuff, stop getting everything for us!!! Not that i'm complaining..) Anyway, even though you COULD do that, I would recommend getting the lastest firmware which you can pickup here at GBATemp or... Here.

New Features of M3 Firmware 1.01
    • Supports the WiFi game, DS Rumble Pak, DS Browser
    • Supports changes of the background of Operation Interface
    • Supports 4-scale-lightness adjustment (DS Lite only)
    • Hides system files in game mode
Yeah, so its all good, I RECOMMEND downloading this regardless if you actually want the features or not, just simply for the skin support [IMG].

Anyway, back to the ease if use, basically, download that and drag the DS_Menu (Or something like that) file to the root of your microSD. After doing so the firmware will be upgraded.

To put games onto your M3 Simply, just simply drag your games to your microSD. If you don't have any SAV's, (In which you can use the included Sav Converter, which is included on the CD so you can convert your saves) available. Then it will prompt for you to create a save, cancel, or just outright ignore it (BOOO!).

As for the multimedia portions of the M3, or really just depends on your taste. If you like moonshell, then get the moonshell 1.5 file which is included on the CD that comes with your M3 Simply and just follow the Wizard and after that, take the Shell Folder, and the moonshell file and put it in the root of your microSD. You need to rename the file to I believe, DS_MEDIA (I think, I'll change it later if its wrong). However, If you don't like evil Moonshell then I would recommend putting DSLinux, or DSOrganize, and just rename it to DS_Media, so you can boot those from the menu. Not that I hate moonshell or anything..

    The M3 Simply Menu

Basically there are 3 parts of the menu, I will go threw these parts with ya.

    GAME

Basically this just takes you to the browser menu in which you can select your .nds file to boot. The features of the menu include the ability to show the NDS Icon file that would show if you actually owned the game. (Dirty Pirate!). And "Touch Screen" support, they are a bit crazy for saying that since you hardly use the touch screen. Only to just select the file or folder you want to go into. Speaking of folders, I recommend you make a separate folder for your NDS roms so you don't get confused.

    MULTIMEDIA

This basically boots whatever is named DS_MEDIA. Whether its moonshell or DSOrganize. Speaking of that though. Moonshell and DS Organize can do the same thing, expect Moonshell supports video, but DSO supports Wifi. So its all if you want video or Wifi. Even though you could just load both...

    BOOT SLOT 2

Boots your Slot 2, but who needs that anyway? Works flawlessly with Supercard Lite, M3 Pro, M3 Perfect, EWIN, etc.
    (Essentially everything)

    Performance

Ok I'm just going to take GBATemp's style of doing this, mainly because its simple and everyone already knows how it works...

As you can see the support for games is teh bestor. So if you want games, M3 Simply is the way to go. 100% Compatibility I have actually tested more games, but I'm to lazy to type all of them.
    Download Play

I haven't tested it though, so list is coming at a later time.

    Homebrew

I haven't tested much of this. But I can tell you that Moonshell works, DS Organize (I think it was 2.4 Beta) Works. As well as some random DS homebrew games.

The list with full homebrew checks will be coming soon.

    Slot 2 Booting Ability

I haven't tested alot but it works with.

All Supercard Series (SD, CF, Lite, MiniSD, and their rumble editions)
All M3 Series (SD, CF, Lite, MiniSD, and their Professional editions)
    Ewin Series
EZ Flash IV Delux (Haven't tested others)

So its pretty good. Works with everything I throw at it. So thats good. Not much to talk about... so yeah.. how was your day? Good? Thats good... anyway, who cares about you. We care about the M3 Simply!

    Conclusion

100% NDS Compatibility --- Got it
100% Build Quality --- Got it
    100% Awesomeness --- Got it

But in all seriousness, the M3 Simply has awesome build quality that is essentially perfect, this is my first Slot One, so I have nothing to compare it to, but its really good netherless. It also has perfect NDS compatibility, so its the way to go if you just want NDS games. Homebrew support could be better, but I can't really say thats a big problem, since its just a matter of getting the homebrew supported for the M3. Anyway here is the round down

    Pros
+ 100% ROM compatibility (From games tested)
+ All games run perfectly, (From games tested)
+ No patching needed, drag n drop.
+ Add more memory via, MicroSD
+ It supports FAT people and FAT 32 people!
+ Its build quality is good (So it doesn't break when you try and rape it!)
+ No out stick!!! (Just making fun of some companies, engrish.. means no stick out)
+ Comes free stuff (OMG FREE!!)
+ Cheap for teh poor people (Filthy pirate, it could be 100$ and still pay for itself.. tsk tsk)

    Cons
    - GUI SUX
    - No extra shiz, I want toaster!!
    - Teh chinese get teh power faster then us!!
    - The stuff we brew dun work.
    - You can't download your games to other peoples (Freeloaders..)

    Final Score, 0/10. SUX!!!!
    Yeah, right...

    Final Score, 9.5/10

I have some new information I want to share with you guys. I have gotten the DS Web Browser to be bootable directly from the M3 Simply menu, so now its like my M3 Simply has a Web Browser!

You do know you never need a camera to review this. You could have just taken the pictures from the R4 review and photoshopped them [IMG] Seriously though, great review. I got the R4 instead of the M3 simple as it was cheaper. Also you can easily change the R4 into an M3 simple with just a bit of soldering.

No, I haven't tested download play yet. However, I am testing some homebrew right now, from what it looks like, the support isn't to good.

Hopefully the DILD (Or whatever they are called) patches will help some.

OMG no toaster in the M3 Simply? I heard a rumor that the R4 comes with a toaster.

    I'm totally getting a R4 if that's true [IMG]

Edit: Oh and I which micro sd cards would you recomend for the m3 simply??

Someone claims they're harddrive broke with the MicroSD flash drive they got with the R4. Thats where the toaster phrase comes from. Latest news in, its been confirmed!!!! the MicroSD flash drive did break the harddrive, we have pictures.
