Gaming M3 on original to DS Light Factory single card

so i used to play my step bro with my original ds M3 CF (flashed bios) against his "stock" DS using download play with mario 64

now im trying to do download play to my girlfriends DS light with the same original ds and M3 CF

every game i try to do a single card play it just goes to a white screen with the nintendo logo in black, and starts to fade away but freezes at a grey logo and does do anything....

ive tried Metroid, Diddy Kong, and others

is it because its a Light, and they fixed that?
cuz my step bro's wasnt flashed bios, so i dont think its because its factory, other than ds light has different bios...

any clues?
